Lakeland resident Jennifer Houghton Canady provided a welcome and recognition of the 100th anniversary of the Ratification of the 19th Amendment at the Political Hob Nob.

The Florida Commission on the Status of Women and the Florida Women’s Suffrage Centennial Commission is working to ensure the statewide observance of the centennial of women’s suffrage in 2020. They hope to ensure the legacy of the women’s suffrage movement in Florida and shape education about women’s rights for generations to come. The Commission invites all Floridians to honor the ideals that fueled the suffrage movement and learn about the people who lead the way for women’s suffrage.

The Lakeland Chamber Political Hob Nob Presented by Spectrum, provides an occasion to meet and greet local, state and federal candidates and learn their views on the year's hot topics.

The Chamber will have masks available at the registration desk for any participant that needs one. Social distancing measures will be in place throughout the event space (including Candidate table placement, voting booths and food and beverage stations) along with hand sanitizer stations throughout the event. Continuous cleaning of high touch areas will be conducted during the event.

The biggest in-person event of the political season, the Lakeland Chamber Political Hob Nob Presented by Spectrum, provides an occasion to meet and greet local, state and federal candidates and learn their views on the year's hot topics. Join us at SUN n' FUN/Aerospace Center for Excellence, on Tuesday, August 4, 2020, at 5:00 PM. The Lakeland Chamber hopes to increase awareness of and participation in the elections process, including opportunities to hear from candidates and speak with them at their respective booths, vote in the straw poll administered by the Polk County Supervisor of Elections and, of course, enjoy food/beverages, all while maintaining safe social distancing.

This event is a favorite of candidates looking to connect directly with constituents. Audience attending includes; Elected Officials, Candidates for Public Office and Representatives for Policy Issues, Board of Directors, Community Leaders. NEW to 2020 is a VIP ticket that includes early admission, designated area and private bar/food service!

The Lakeland Chamber wants you to know, that we are taking great care to use appropriate measures to keep candidates and attendees safe at the event. While the outdoor covered venue (Aerospace Pavilion) has the capacity to hold 1,000 people, we will only allow less than 50% capacity to attend. Additionally, we will require attendees, candidates, event staff and volunteers to have their temperature checked prior to entering the building. Face masks will be optional at the open-air event and the Chamber will have masks available at the registration desk for any participant that needs one. Social distancing measures will be in place throughout the event space (including Candidate table placement, voting booths and food and beverage stations) along with hand sanitizer stations throughout the event. Continuous cleaning of high touch areas will be conducted during the event.
