The Tribal EcoRestoration Alliance and Lake Cal-TREX partners will be conducting ecocultural broadcast burns from Tuesday, October 20, through Friday October 23, 2026 in the Loch Lomond and Bonanza Springs areas near Cobb, CA, on the lands of Middletown Rancheria Pomo Indians of California and Big Valley Band of Pomo Indians. Smoke may be visible to residents and highway travelers along Highway 175, Loch Lomond Rd, and surrounding roads. The goals of the burns include supporting capacity building and training around ecocultural fire in Lake County, building a positive relationship with local Tribes, reducing fuel loading and making the community more resilient during wildfires, and reintroducing low-intensity fire to heritage Black oaks and mature conifer trees.
Burn dates are subject to change or cancellation due to weather or other conditions.

This is a fully permitted burn; DO NOT CALL 911. If conditions such as weather or vegetation are not conducive to burning, the burn will be rescheduled.
Ignitions are anticipated to begin mid-morning with firing operations concluding by late afternoon. People traveling near the burn area may see smoke on the day of the burn. In the event the public smells smoke, they are urged to take precautions and use common sense to reduce any harmful health effects by limiting outdoor activities. Local residents are advised to close windows and doors to prevent smoke from entering their homes. There is potential for some residual smoke overnight and into the following days. The burn area will continue to be patrolled until all heat has been extinguished.
