Lakeport Police Officers Association Observes National Police Week and Peace Officers Memorial Day

The Lakeport Police Officers Association joins our community and the nation in solemn recognition of National Police Week and Peace Officers Memorial Day. This week is a time to honor the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment of law enforcement officers who serve and protect with integrity.

We pause to remember the law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the line of duty in 2024. These brave individuals made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities, and their legacy endures in the lives they touched and the freedoms they helped preserve. We will never forget their names, their stories, or their dedication.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Lakeport City Council for once again proclaiming this week as National Police Week, recognizing the vital role peace officers play in maintaining public safety and upholding the rule of law.

Join the Lake County Sheriff's Office for the First Responder Memorial Ceremony as we honor the brave individuals from the Lake County Sheriff's Office and local fire agencies who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Taking place Friday, May 16, 2025 at 5:30 PM in the Lake County Museum Park, 255 North Main Street, Lakeport, CA.

This is a time for our community to come together in remembrance and gratitude. All are welcome to attend as we pay tribute to the heroes who dedicated their lives to protecting ours.

🐰 Parable of the Lost Easter Bunny 📞

Early one spring morning, a frazzled little bunny bound for Lakeport’s big egg‑hunt hopped right past his exit and wound up completely lost. 🤦‍♂️ He stopped, pricked up his ears, and—just like any of us—called for help.

On the other end of the line were the calm, steady voices of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office dispatchers, the same heroes who guide Lakeport Police officers every single day. They listened to the bunny’s shaky hops, pinpointed his pothole‑filled path, and radioed us the perfect directions. Thanks to their quick thinking (and those magical map‑skills), our patrol officers hopped to the rescue, escorting Mr. Bunny back to the park before the first kid spotted an empty basket. 🎉

That tiny tale is a fluffy reminder of something huge: every successful outcome starts with a dispatcher. They’re the first to answer, the steady heart of every call, and the unseen partners who keep our community safe 24/7/365.

📢 LPOA Attends PORAC Association Leadership Training 📢

This week, three of our board members attended the Association Leadership Training in Sacramento, hosted by PORAC. We want to extend our gratitude to PORAC for providing this valuable training and for their ongoing support of local associations like ours.

This training was made possible in large part due to a grant our association received from PORAC that aids small associations such as ours. Furthermore, the association thanks department leadership for their support in working on logistics and staffing so our members could attend this valuable training.

Good governance is essential to ensuring that we effectively advocate for our members and navigate the challenges facing law enforcement. This training strengthens our leadership skills, enhances our ability to serve our officers, and fosters collaboration between local associations and PORAC.

We appreciate the opportunity to learn, connect, and bring back valuable insights to better serve the Lakeport Police Officers Association and our community. 💙
