Lakeside Friends of the Library

Lakeside Friends of the Library Lakeside Friends of the Library is a fundraising organization and organizes volunteers to support the Lakeside library's mission.

The Lakeside Library opened in May 1913. It was housed in various halls until 1946, when the library moved into a converted barracks building in Lindo Lake Park. In 1962, a new building was constructed and the barracks hauled away. Expansion in 1975 included a children's wing and a 20-space parking lot. With about 800 programs each year and a circulation of about 290,000, the library is a busy pla

ce. Public computers and WiFi access are important services provided by the branch, which receives about 150,000 visits per year. The library is indeed the heart of the community. Friends of the Lakeside Library organized in 1969 to support the branch financially. The organization supports the library through volunteering and fundraising. Currently, funds are being raised to provide furnishing, fixtures, and equipment for a new library planned for Lakeside. Please consider making a donation today -- Every dollar counts!
