Did you know that today is National Maple Syrup Day? We are so fortunate that we have our very own Maple Syrup Festival held right here at the beautiful Indian Lake Campgrounds and it is run by the ILDC. Unfortunately, last year's 34th annual event was canceled due to Covid, but this year is on the books and scheduled for Saturday, March 19th, and Sunday, March 20th so be sure to mark your calendars for this great IL event! #nationalmaplesyrupday2021 #indianlakeohio #villageoflakeview

We’ve been fortunate so far with the weather and we know a lot of our residents enjoy the walking path along the lake, but this is a great alternative to keep that momentum going through the winter months. Thank you to everyone who makes it possible.

Winter Walking is hustling back to Indian Lake Schools in the New Year! IL will host walking at ILHS Monday through Thursday from 5-8 pm starting January 4th. Take a few laps at any of these locations and stay in shape this winter. We hope to see you!

Vote Yes for the Indian Lake Joint District Emergency Medical Services levy. This levy is a reduction from the levy passed 5 years ago. It is a reduction from the current 3 mil levy to 2.5 mil. This will equate to $25 per $100,000 home valuation. With the passage of the levy, the board will pass a cap of $100 out of pocket cost to residents per call of service. Continuation of 24 hours per day fully trained staff and budgeting schedule for equipment replacement at end of its serviceability. This levy will go into effect in 2023 at the expiration of current levy.

A big thank you to the village electric employees for coming in to make sure the village electric system was not the cause of our outage and making it ready for recharge when the problem with the substation was fixed. Also thank you to DP&L employees for troubleshooting the DP&L distribution lines and substation to discover the problem and fixing the problem in the most timely fashion possible.

With the polar vortex coming next week, the Village of Lakeview would like to share a few tips to help protect your water lines.

Protect Against Frozen Pipes – During sub zero weather open the door below your sink to allow warm air to reach your pipes. If you have had pipes freeze in the past, keep a thin stream of water running from the faucet highest in the home (the width of a pencil lead). This will increase your water bill, but will help prevent your pipes from freezing. You could place a bucket below the water and collect the water for another use (flushing toilets).

Eliminate Drafts – close off crawl spaces, vents and doors, especially under mobile homes, from the outside. Repair broken or cracked windows. Check insulation and caulking around doors and windows. Keep attached garage doors closed.

Insulate Pipes – Wrap pipes in unheated parts of your home and business. Again, mobile homes are more susceptible. Pipes close to exterior walls or in unheated basements can be wrapped with pieces of insulation. Don’t overlook pipes near windows.

Locate Shut Off Valves – If the pipes freeze and burst, knowing where the shutoff valve is located saves valuable time.

Thermostat – Keep your thermostat set above 65 degrees when leaving your home or business for several days.

Protect Your Water Meter – If your meter is located in a meter pit, make sure the lid is on tight and is not broken. When sub-zero temperatures hit, allowing cold air into the pit will freeze the meter.

Hose Bibs – Drain your outside hose bibs and turn off the water supply to these areas. Detach any hoses connected.

Winterize Unheated or Unused Buildings – Significant property damage can occur before a burst water pipe is discovered in an unused building.

Please remember, if it’s too cold for you, it’s probably too cold for your pet, so keep your animals inside. If left outdoors, pets can freeze, become disoriented, lost, stolen, injured or killed.

Village of Lakeview Council Meeting 1/19/2021

12/15/2020

Dear Residents

The Village of Lakeview is planning to disconnect an old section of water main at the intersection of S Oak and SR 720 on Thursday 12/17/2020 This is part of the planned water main replacement project. This will cause us to depressurize your section of the water system. This will include the areas of Midway and all of SR 720. After the water pressure is restored you may notice some short-term cloudy water. The depressurization could take four to five hours to complete. If a boil order is required, we will notify every one using Facebook, Peak of Ohio and The Bellefontaine Examiner. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

When is the villages trick or treat?
So, this might not be were to post this. But don't know were else to post it. Question is, when did the old laundry mat parking lot become a TRUCK STOP ? For the last couple weeks, at least 3 nights a week trucks pull in & park for the night. Living close to that, doesn't make a person feel comfortable living here.
Last week, AMP hosted a Lineworker Basic 2 training course at AMP headquarters in Columbus, where apprentice lineworkers in their second year had the opportunity to expand their knowledge and skills on the topics of enhanced climbing skills, installation of equipment, live-line equipment and more. AMP instructors were joined by guest lineworker instructors Nate Hutchison, City of Piqua - Government Page, Cody Leitner, City Government of Westerville, Ohio, and Dave Overman, Village of Jackson Center. Hutchinson, Leitner and Overman, all past competitors in the AMP and APPA lineworker rodeos, helped to instruct participants on proper climbing and field techniques. Lineworkers in attendance were: Kevin Hoppes, City of Clyde, Ohio; Bryan Brunson, James Filon and Patrick Gross, Cuyahoga Falls Electric System; Ben Brady and Kevin Neiles, Ephrata Borough, PA Government; John Snyder IV, Girard Borough; Justin Moore, City of Hudson, Ohio - Government; Brad Davis and Kody Pickering, Village of Lakeview; Alexandria Carper, Monroeville; Mackenzie Koehler, St. Clairsville; Tyler Sawmiller, St. Mary's, Ohio; Anthony Alves and Tyler Diehl, Schuylkill Haven Borough; Ryan Crawford and Nick Sanders, City of Tipp City - Government; and Kyle Badger and Jacob Thompson, City of Wadsworth - City Hall. What is being built back in the old elementary lot!? My house is about 1000 feet from there so I’m super curious.
Are we going to have a village wide trash pickup day this year?
I live in the city of Lakeview on W. Lake St. Last year someone had decided that placing tar in the alley way was a good idea. The picture shows the event of cleaning tar from my floors, EVERYDAY! Please don't think it was a good idea, because it was not. Do not put tar in an alley.
Love the new lights guys Fantastic Great job❤️
It is sad that you read on a friends Facebook about a boil alert for Lakeview. Nothing mentioned to me about it when I paid my bill yesterday. Nothing on the villages Facebook. Glad I got friends that shared the information.
Looking for a contact for vendor booth setup at the car show? Thanks
