What started as a routine traffic stop for speeding quickly turned into a lot more. 🚔

On August 28th, Lakewood deputies stopped a vehicle for speeding. During the stop, the driver decided to toss an open alcoholic container out of the vehicle—because apparently that seemed like a good idea.

The investigation ultimately led to a DUI arrest, and a subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered a ghost gun.

One traffic stop. Multiple violations. One less illegal fi***rm on our streets.

Lakewood Deputies assigned to the City of Paramount had an unexpected and very pleasant visitor! 🐶💚

A community member stopped by to say hello to our deputies and brought along their 4-week-old Chihuahua mix, Oliver, for a quick meet-and-greet. 🐾

These simple moments are a great reminder that community engagement is invaluable and help strengthen trust, foster positive connections, and make our communities safer and stronger.

Lakewood Sheriff’s Station offers a free Vacation Check Program to residents in all five cities we patrol.

Our Volunteers on Patrol (VOPs) monitor homes while residents are away and provide valuable information to patrol deputies.

Request a vacation check at least one week before your trip by calling the station or completing the Vacation Check Form on the Lakewood Sheriff’s Station website. Simply scroll to the bottom of the page to find the form.

When you sign up, our volunteers can provide patrol deputies with important details about your home, including how many vehicles should be present, which lights are normally on, and other information that can help identify unusual activity.
