Colorado families just got another reminder in the mail. If you didn't pay all your property tax for 2026 in full, the second and final payment is due by June 15th, and many homeowners are seeing jumps of 20% to 40% compared to last year.

That's hundreds or even thousands of extra dollars a year, on top of already high grocery bills, insurance premiums, and housing costs.

It's the same story across the state: everything feels more expensive, even though the Colorado we love hasn't changed.

Colorado was once a thriving magnet for jobs and economic opportunity. Today, we are watching a different story unfold as businesses leave our state and take good jobs with them. 📉

The numbers speak for themselves. Since 2019:
❌ Nearly 100 companies have left Colorado.
❌ Over 13,600 jobs have vanished with them.
❌ Just months ago, Denver’s Tendit Group shut down, laying off 107 local workers.

Why is this happening? Higher costs, heavy regulations, and rising taxes are driving job creators away. When businesses pack up, it’s our working families and young people who pay the ultimate price.

Senator Mark Baisley is a new voice for Colorado families.

Yesterday marked my final day serving in the Colorado State Senate. I hold a deep appreciation to my constituents for entrusting me with representing them.

Among my lessons learned over these past 8 years at the Capitol is that the greatest challenge to simple affordability is the Democrats’ insatiable spending spree. Every dollar they waste on their social micromanagement programs adds to the cost of groceries, gas taxes and even rent!

In Washington, my first priority will be to reduce the government’s involvement in our lives. Attributed to Thomas Jefferson: “That government is best which governs least.”
