Good news! Water service has been restored following the water main break on Ingalls Street. Normal water flow should now be resumed in the affected area.

A huge thank you to our City crew for working late tonight to get the break repaired and water back on! 👏💙

🚨 WATER MAIN BREAK – INGALLS STREET 🚨

The City of Lakin is currently working on a water main break on Ingalls Street. Residents in the affected area may experience limited water flow to no water until repairs are complete.

Our crews are working to get the issue repaired and normal water service restored as quickly as possible.

📢 Door-to-Door License Update!

The City of Lakin would like to let residents know that Aisyn Vasquez, Joel Serrano, and Brandon Serrano have checked in with City Hall and received the all clear for their door-to-door sales licenses. ✅

They are representing Vivint Smart Home & Security and are licensed to conduct door-to-door business within the City of Lakin from August 24 through August 29, 2026. 🏡

As always, the City requires door-to-door sales representatives to obtain the proper licensing before conducting business within Lakin. If you ever have questions about whether someone has been approved, please feel free to contact City Hall at 620-355-6252.

🚧 The Buffalo Street Sidewalk Improvement Project Is Almost Complete! 🚧

All but one block of the sidewalk work along Buffalo Street has been completed—and it looks amazing!

This project was made possible through the 2024 and 2025 Western Kansas Community Foundation Our Community, Our Future grants, totaling $30,000.

We are grateful for WKCF’s continued investment in our community and excited about the improvements this project has brought to Buffalo Street!

With hopes of receiving another grant, we plan to complete the final block next year. We’re almost there! 👏

📚 THE BOOK GUY IS IN LAKIN! 📚

Lakin residents may see a new face going door to door over the next few days! 👋

Meet Arnas, a college student from Lithuania who is spending his summer in the United States completing an internship with Southwestern Advantage. Arnas stopped by City Hall today to check in with us and has received the all clear to conduct door-to-door sales within the City of Lakin.

During his time in our community, Arnas will be visiting with families about educational books, apps, study guides, and learning resources for children ranging from babies and preschoolers all the way through high school students preparing for AP classes, the SAT, and ACT.

A few things to know:

📖 He is selling educational products through Southwestern Advantage as part of his summer internship.

🏫 He does not represent or have an affiliation with USD 215 or any other local school district.

🚪 He will be going door to door and may stop by your home to introduce himself and explain the educational resources he offers.

🌎 This is Arnas’ first summer working in Kansas, and he says he has heard great things about Lakin while working in neighboring communities!

If you see Arnas around town, feel free to give him a friendly Lakin welcome! 👋
