The National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a * Tornado Warning for... Northern Kossuth County in north central Iowa... * Until 615 PM CDT. *

At 523 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Lone Rock, or 13 miles northwest of Algona, moving northeast at 30 mph. HAZARD...Tornado and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation. IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely.

* This dangerous storm will be near... Bancroft around 530 PM CDT.
Lakota around 545 PM CDT.
Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include Bancroft, Ledyard, Fenton, Lone Rock, and Lakota.

Kossuth County EMS held training on Tuesday night. We learned some statistics and some improved protocols when it comes to our OB patients. Always a great refresher class!

Thank you to Fenton Fire & Ambulance for hosting Ag Day! Since we are going into planting season it's always nice to refresh our training on farm equipment! Some of the area fire departments had some hands-on training with how to deal with a leaking anhydrous tank safety.

Studies show about 60% of incidents are caused by equipment failure (e.g., faulty seals, corrosion) and 37% by human error, such as improper training or maintenance.

Through community support, we are able to have the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) & training to keep us safe in these types of situations!
