Back to School Safety PSA

School Starts Monday, August 24, 2026

As students head back to school, our streets and sidewalks will once again be filled with children excited to see friends they may not have seen in several months. With that excitement comes an important reminder for everyone in our community:

SAFETY IS A PRIORITY!

During the morning and after-school commute, please:

• Slow down in school zones and obey all posted speed limits.
• Watch carefully at crosswalks and always yield to pedestrians.
• Be alert for children walking, biking, or getting on and off school buses.
• Put the phone down. Texts, calls, and notifications can wait.
• Drive distraction-free and keep your full attention on the road.
• Allow extra time for increased traffic around schools, buses, and drop-off areas.

Children can be excited, distracted, and sometimes unpredictable—especially during the first few days of school. As drivers, we have a responsibility to expect the unexpected and give them the time and space they need to travel safely.

School begins August 24. Slow down. Stay alert. Eliminate distractions. Watch for our children.

Let's work together to make the start of the 2026–2027 school year a safe and successful one for everyone!
