We put a post up a couple weeks ago asking people to please not feed the squirrels, especially in the Lamar City Park, but it should pertain to all areas of town, as it makes the squirrels dependent and aggressive. Several incidents of squirrels attacking people at the park have been reported.

The Park staff does their best to make sure all trash, but especially food trash is picked up. We need the community's help with this as well! If you are in the park for a ball game or have rented a shelter or played in the playground, please be sure all food trash is picked up and put in a trash can. We understand not every piece of popcorn can get picked up, but things like buns, fries, pretzels, fruit for sure can. And please, please do not intentionally feed them.

An article is posted in the pictures below to explain why feeding not only creates aggression, but is also not good for the squirrels well-being.
