On 5/15, the Lampasas Fire Department responded to a vehicle accident within the city limits. For our crews, calls like these are simply part of the job — serving our community when people need us most.

Today, one of the citizens involved in that incident stopped by the station to personally thank our firefighters for the professionalism, compassion, and care they showed during what was a very difficult situation. She shared that our crews helped make a hard day a little easier, and that meant a great deal to her.

We do not always receive feedback after emergency calls, so when we do, it truly means a lot to our personnel. We are proud of the way our firefighters continue to represent this department and community every day.

Well done, B Shift.

The Lampasas Fire Department, in coordination with the City Water Department, will begin annual fire hydrant flushing and flow testing operations throughout the City beginning May 18, 2026, and continuing through October 31, 2026.

These operations are an important part of maintaining the City’s fire protection system and help ensure hydrants remain operational, accessible, and capable of providing adequate water flow during emergencies.

During testing operations, residents may notice fire department personnel and water department staff operating hydrants in neighborhoods throughout the City. Temporary discoloration of water may occasionally occur following hydrant flushing activities. While the water remains safe, residents are encouraged to allow faucets to run for a short period until the water clears if discoloration is noticed.

Motorists are also asked to use caution when approaching crews working near roadways and avoid driving through standing water around hydrant testing areas when possible.

The Lampasas Fire Department appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as we work alongside the Water Department to maintain and improve the City’s fire protection infrastructure.

Lampasas Fire Department to Conduct Structure Training on May 5

The Lampasas Fire Department will be conducting hands-on training exercises on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at a structure recently acquired for training purposes within the city.

This training will provide firefighters with valuable, realistic experience in a controlled environment. Crews will rotate through the structure throughout the day, practicing critical skills such as fire attack, search and rescue, ventilation, and overall incident coordination. This type of training allows personnel to sharpen their skills and improve readiness for real-world emergencies.

Citizens in the surrounding area may notice fire apparatus, personnel activity, and simulated smoke conditions during the training period. There is no cause for alarm, as this is a planned and controlled training event.

All training will be conducted in accordance with established safety standards and under the supervision of qualified personnel. The Lampasas Fire Department takes every precaution to ensure the safety of both personnel and the public during all training operations.

This opportunity allows firefighters to train in a real structure, which significantly enhances the effectiveness of training compared to standard drills.

We appreciate the community’s continued support as we train to better protect lives and property in Lampasas.

This week we want to recognize and thank our telecommunications team during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.

Our dispatchers are the calm voice on the other end of the line when someone is having one of the worst days of their life. They gather critical information, keep callers focused, and make sure the right resources are headed our way as quickly as possible.

For our crews, they are much more than the voice on the radio. They are a vital part of every response, helping us with updates, additional information, and making sure everyone goes home safe.

A lot of what they do happens behind the scenes and often goes unnoticed by the public, but we see it every day and we appreciate everything they do for the fire department, law enforcement, EMS, and the citizens of Lampasas.

Thank you for what you do for this community. We appreciate you not just this week, but every day.

Today, we had the pleasure of assisting the Lampasas High School Emergency Services class with vehicle extrication training. It is always a pleasure to help these future lifesavers develop such critical, real-world skills.

We’re proud to support the next generation of emergency responders and invest in the training that helps keep our community safe.
