It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of our good friend and patriot, William Mohr. Condolences and prayers to the family at this difficult time.
The Constitution Party has lost a leader, an advocate, and a friend. Our prayers go out for his family.
William (Bill) Mohr, the Constitution Party 2020 Vice Presidential candidate, State Chairman of the U.S. Taxpayers Party of Michigan (the ConstitutionParty affiliate), Mid-Western Regional States Co-Chairman, and a member of the National Executive Committee, is now with his Lord rejoicing among the other saints who have preceded him. Precious in the sight of the Lord! Though he will be missed, his legacy and service will forever be remembered.
A TRIBUTE TO BILL MOHR
I have the honor and privilege of writing a tribute to my dear friend, Bill Mohr. My words are written on behalf of the Constitution Party on whose behalf Bill labored for so many years, but the only way I know to tell Bill's story is through my own eyes and my own experience.
During the campaign of 2008, Joan and I were guests at his home and shared his hospitality. Bill was always warm, friendly, and generous with his time and efforts. He took us around to his contacts in the Grand Rapids business and political communities and tried to help us as much as he could. We also visited one of his job sites and met his son. We saw there that he was a skilled contractor and businessman. The result was that we did better in Michigan than any other state.
Bill and I became good friends over the years, and we enjoyed many ci**rs and many glasses of wine together. He was always there to make a joke and laugh with me over a good cigar and fine glass of wine. When I was under stress from the Party's presidential nomination in 2016, he was there to help relieve it and keep me laughing. He was more than a friend he was a brother in Christ and the cause of liberty for which we both labored for so many years.
I was invited to speak at his church and that is where I learned that Bill had a great singing voice. Joan and I were amazed that he not only could sing but he led the music. We visited and spoke with Bill at many other churches besides his own, and it became clear to us that he was a very remarkable, multitalented man indeed. Joan and I shared stories with him about his mission in Mexico and our own mission in Romania and we continually found more and more in common. My respect for him continued to grow the longer I knew him and that is very unusual in this world today.
What Bill accomplished in the Michigan affiliate of the Constitution Party is well known but I will mention it anyway. Although he had giants in the party before he arrived, he kept it going and growing and inspired a new generation to continue the struggle for liberty. In the national party he was equally effective and always willing to serve in any role he was needed. When I nominated him for the Vice Presidential role in 2020, I think he was a little shocked, but like the man he always was he accepted it and went to work.
My memories of Bill are dominated by thoughts of friendship and fellowship. My life is diminished without him, without his voice, and his obvious joy to be together and enjoy a cigar. People will pick up the flag and carry on as always happens when a soldier falls in battle, but no one can adequately replace Bill.
I run the risk of attempting to raise my friend to the point that he would be embarrassed, but I will just say that he was a dear friend and as close as a brother. The really interesting thing about Bill's life is that because he loved the Lord, I know that he is living his best life now. We barely have a glimpse of the glory that will be ours in heaven, but Bill is experiencing that now.
So long my friend, you sure left your mark on me, on the Party, and on many others.
