Celebrate America’s 250th! East Lampeter Township, Hand-in-Hand Fire Company, Lafayette Fire Company, Ronks Fire Company, and Witmer Fire Protective Association are partnering to invite the community to celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary on Monday, June 29, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at Flory Park, 416 Dohner Dr, Lancaster (Use Greenland Dr entrance)! 🎆

The evening will include:
🚒 Fire apparatus parade
🚩 America 250 flag raising ceremony
👏 Recognition of firefighters with 35+ years of service
📜 Sign an enlarged replica of the Declaration of Independence
🌭 Complimentary hot dogs and bottles of water
🍦Ice cream from The Market at Oregon Dairy

ROADWORK NOTICE – Starting Tuesday, June 23, 2026, milling roadwork will begin on Creek Hill Road and Millcross Road. Milling is expected to take 2–3 days. Once milling is complete, crews will move directly into paving.

The project is anticipated to wrap up by Friday, June 26, 2026, but please note that rain during work hours or equipment issues may push work into the following week.

Roads Affected:
Creek Hill Road — from the Hartman Station intersection to the Willow Road intersection
Millcross Road — from the Creek Hill Road intersection to the Pitney Road intersection

Please plan extra travel time and use caution when driving through work zones. Thank you for your patience as these improvements are completed.

What a fantastic first week of Summer Playground: A Playground of Possibilities! 🌞🚜🐐A big THANK YOU to our Summer Playground Sponsors: Conestoga Valley School District, The Restaurant Store, Bird-in-Hand Bird-In-Hand Bakery & Cafe, Miller's Smorgasbord, Lancaster Public Library, Ken's Gardens, Tanger Outlets, Lancaster and School Specialty for making Summer Playground possible.

Our Farm Week was filled with fun, laughter, and plenty of hands-on adventures. The children enjoyed games, crafts, and lots of time to play with friends. One of the week's biggest highlights was a special visit from Raquel Neighoff with some adorable baby goats, which quickly became a favorite activity!

We were also excited to welcome the Bookmobile, giving everyone the chance to pick out new books to enjoy throughout the summer. To wrap up an amazing week, we cooled off with Water Day, generously sponsored by The Restaurant Store, with plenty of splashing and smiles all around.

We can't wait to see what the rest of the summer has in store! ☀️📚💦

Mowed Grass Clippings and Leaves Caution🌱: Many people enjoy the look of a lawn that is neatly mowed but do not realize the dangers they create for motorcycles, bicycles, scooters, and other vehicles. When grass and leaves wind up on road surfaces, it can result in slippery conditions and contribute to water pollution. Grass clippings are approximately 85% water, which adds to the risk in wet or dry conditions.
♻️Please blow grass and leaves into your yard and away from the street when mowing.
♻️Grass clippings and leaves should also be cleared from the tops of storm drain grates so the rainwater can enter and prevent flooding.
♻️Grass clippings are rich with nutrients that should be kept out of waterways and stormwater management systems. Mulching grass can provide free nitrogen fertilizer for lawn growth. The organic matter from the clippings enhances soil health and reduces stormwater runoff.
♻️The most eco-friendly way to deal with leaves is to mulch them with a mower and leave them on your yard to biodegrade into the soil.
♻️You can compost leaves, dispose of leaves through your waste hauler, or take them to a compost park if you want to get rid of them. Please do not blow or dump them in or on streets, sidewalks, storm drains, or creeks.

🌲 Youth Wilderness Survival Clinic 🧭
Build confidence, learn new outdoor skills, and explore the great outdoors at our Youth Wilderness Survival Clinic! Led by an experienced Lancaster County Parks Naturalist, participants will learn and practice essential wilderness survival skills including:
🏕️ Shelter building
🧭 Compass and GPS navigation
💧 Water filtration
🌿 Identifying wild edibles
This hands-on program is designed for ages 9–13 and is perfect for kids who love nature, adventure, and outdoor exploration. No prior experience needed!
👋 This is a drop-off program. Adults may leave after signing their child in.
