We have 17 openings left for our class next week.

We’re excited to announce that Chef Hawkes, Culinary Arts Instructor at the Lancaster Career Center, will be leading our September Class on food preservation methods and safety!
Participants will also get to enjoy tasting samples prepared by Chef Hawkes and the talented culinary arts students.

🐄 Improving Confined Animal Feeding Operations with EQIP

USDA-NRCS’s EQIP program helps producers strengthen their CAFO facilities.

These practices reduce runoff, protect local waterways, and support safer, more sustainable operations across Lancaster County.

Practices include:
Waste Storage Facilities — Safe, covered or lined structures that store manure until it can be applied responsibly.

Heavy‑Use Area Protection — Stabilized pads that reduce mud, erosion, and nutrient runoff around barns and feeding areas.

Nutrient Management — Planning manure and fertilizer use to protect soil and water while supporting crop needs.

Mortality Management — Approved systems for handling livestock mortalities safely and reducing contamination risks.

Waste Transfer Systems — Pumps and pipelines that move manure efficiently from barns to storage or treatment areas.

Vegetative Treatment Areas — Planted areas that naturally filter runoff and capture nutrients before they reach waterways

USDA- NRCS offers financial support and technical guidance for practices like prescribed grazing, watering systems, cross fencing and pasture planting.
