Installation of New AED Devices

Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health is helping the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office keep our community safe! Through a generous grant, they’ve provided the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office with five new Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). These lifesaving devices will be stationed in strategic locations within County facilities for Deputies to use when responding to public and employee cardiac emergencies. Thank you, Penn Medicine, for contributing to the effectiveness of local first responders and the health and safety of our community!

Academy Graduation

Today, the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce that Deputy Dylan Palmer and Deputy Chloe Bresnak successfully completed the Deputy Sheriff Basic Training Academy as graduating members of the 74th Academy Class. The Pennsylvania Deputy Sheriff Training Academy is a 19-week 760 hour intensive program designed to train, educate, and prepare our deputies for all facets of the job. Congratulations Deputies!

The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office welcomed three new deputies who were sworn in on Monday 17 Aug 2026 by Sheriff Marc Shaffer.

Luis DeOleo- Luis was born in New York City and his family relocated to Reading PA as a child. Luis graduated from Reading High school in 2011 and went on to receive an associate’s degree in accounting from Lackawanna Junior College. For the last 13 years, Luis has worked in the behavioral health in Reading, PA. Luis brings us good experience in dealing with those individuals that may be in crisis. Luis always had a desire to serve others and work in public safety. In Luis’s spare time, he has a passion for sports and is a baseball coach.

Erik Saviano- Erik was born and raised in New York City. Erik graduated Highschool in 2006. Erik brings with him a great deal of experience. Previously Erik worked for the New York Department of Corrections, Delaware Department of Corrections, Butler County Prison, and most recently the Butler County Sheriff’s Office. Erik Graduated the Deputy Sheriff Academy in May 2026, where he learned of the opportunities that the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office has to offer.

Amanda Hoover- Amanda was born and raised in Lancaster County. She graduated from Garden Spot Highschool and went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Biblical Studies from Lancaster Bible College. Amanda also was a collegiate athlete playing softball and field hockey. Amanda successfully completed an internship with the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office in 2025 where she gained some experience in how the office operates and solidified her decision to pursue law enforcement. In Amanda’s spare time, she enjoys sports and going to concerts.

Please join us in welcoming these three new deputies to the office. We look forward to watching their careers progress in Lancaster County.
