One extraordinary journey in education is coming to a close, while another exciting chapter begins at Pleasant Run Elementary School. Today, Mrs. Lori Evans officially announced her retirement after 28 years in public education — including an incredible 27 years of faithful service to the students, families, and staff of PRE. Her impact upon generations of children will forever remain a part of the school’s legacy.

Also announced today was the appointment of Ms. Walesha Robinson as the new principal of Pleasant Run Elementary School. As she steps into this leadership role, the PRE community looks forward to a future filled with excellence, strong relationships, and student-centered success.

PRE EXCELLENCE ON DISPLAY’

PRE’s 3rd grade Gifted and Talented scholars proudly presented their educational game board designs at the Lancaster ISD State of the District Luncheon. Each game challenged players to strengthen their understanding of multiplication and division while making learning fun and interactive.

In addition, our two newly identified 3rd grade GT students led a hands-on helicopter design challenge, demonstrating creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving in action.

Our scholars represented PRE with pride and showcased the innovative learning happening in our classrooms every day.

TEACHER OF THE YEAR!

Today we proudly celebrate Ms. Charmaine Harris, who has been named Pleasant Run Elementary’s 2025–2026 Teacher of the Year!

Ms. Harris has dedicated 37 years to public education, including 20 years serving the students and families of Lancaster ISD. Currently a Pre-K teacher, she has faithfully impacted scholars across multiple grade levels throughout her career, including 5th, 3rd, 2nd, and 1st grade.

Her passion for teaching, commitment to young learners, and unwavering dedication to excellence continue to shape the lives of our PRE Tigers every day.

Mission Possible: PRE Heads to NASA!

Before sunrise, the scholars, families, and staff of Pleasant Run Elementary began their journey to the NASA Space Center in Houston, Texas.

The timing couldn’t be more perfect. Today marks the return of the Artemis II astronauts to Earth—an extraordinary milestone in humanity’s journey back to the Moon.

What a powerful moment for our scholars to visit NASA on a day when history is literally returning home from space.

PRE K–2 Families — Our Scholars Are Growing!

Our recent MAP Middle-of-Year assessment results show exciting progress for our Kindergarten–2nd grade scholars in Reading and Math.

Since the beginning of the school year, more students are performing above the national average, and many of our scholars have met or exceeded their individual growth goals. This means students are making strong academic progress and building the skills they need for continued success.

This growth reflects the hard work of our scholars, the dedication of our teachers, and the support of our amazing PRE families.

Thank you for continuing to encourage reading, practicing math, and supporting learning at home. Together, we are helping our scholars reach their full potential.

Let’s taco ‘bout some NACHO average teachers!

On March 25, 2026, the LISD Early Childhood Academic Team, along with Casandra Mitchell, District Coordinator of School Improvement, hosted a Nacho Party to celebrate the powerful impact of the PRE K–2 teachers on student achievement.

Their work with our youngest scholars builds the critical foundation in reading, writing, and mathematics that supports success across the entire campus! The strong instruction happening in these early grades is one of the reasons PRE continues to gain academic traction.
