At this year’s commencement ceremony, the McCaskey High School Class of 2026 was joined by members of the Class of 1976, who returned to celebrate their 50-year milestone and welcome our newest graduates into the McCaskey Alumni family.

Their presence made the evening even more meaningful. As the Class of 2026 crossed the stage, the Class of 1976 stood as a reminder that the Red Tornado legacy does not end at graduation. It continues through every class and every generation that carries McCaskey with them.

Congratulations to the Class of 2026, and thank you to the Class of 1976 for helping us celebrate this special moment.

Once a Tornado, always a Tornado.

For the past ten years, a wall at Lafayette Elementary School has quietly told the story of its students. Each year, a new mural is added, creating a growing collection of artwork shaped not by a single artist, but by the ideas, creativity, and collaboration of students. No two murals are alike. Each one reflects the students who created it and the conversations that unfolded throughout the school year.

This year’s mural may be the smallest in size, but it carries one of the biggest messages. Centered around the theme of diversity, the mural features a hand formed entirely from fingerprints. More than 400 Lafayette students contributed their fingerprints to the final piece, transforming individual marks into a single work of art!

The mural may now hang permanently on Lafayette’s wall, but its story belongs to the students who created it. Individually, each mark is unique, much like the Lafayette community itself.

Way to go Lions! Read the full story on our website, link in comments.

Congratulations to our SDoL retirees! During this year’s commencement ceremony, we had the honor of recognizing members of the School District of Lancaster community who are retiring after years of dedicated service.

It was a fitting moment to celebrate them alongside the Class of 2026. As our graduates prepared to begin their next chapter, our retirees were also recognized for the countless ways they have shaped the chapters that came before.

Congratulations, and we wish you all the best in this next chapter.

For nearly 50 School District of Lancaster students with multiple disabilities, this was more than a field day. It was a chance to participate fully, make choices, experience movement, and celebrate the end of the school year in a way that centered their needs, abilities, and joy.

This year marked the first time the district hosted a field day specifically for students in multiple disabilities classrooms. In previous years, these students participated in a larger event for all special education students. This year’s event created a more intentional experience with adapted activities, modified equipment, and opportunities for students to engage at their own pace.

The event was designed by adapted physical education teachers Nicole McCoy and Brett McCoy, with support from the district’s adapted physical education team, including Christina Portelli and Zach Thomas. Together, the team serves students in multiple disabilities classrooms across the district, traveling to schools each week to provide adapted physical education opportunities.

For SDoL, that is what inclusion looks like in action. Not simply inviting students into a space, but building the space so they can fully participate.

Each year, Pride Month invites us to reflect on what it means to create communities where people feel seen and safe enough to be themselves.

We were proud to participate in this year’s Pride Flag Raising alongside our community members and partners who continue to help make Lancaster a more welcoming place for all people.

The Pride Flag Raising is a reminder that visibility matters. It matters for the students who are still learning how to name who they are. It matters for the staff members who show up every day hoping to be seen as their full selves. It matters for families, neighbors, and community members who want to know that Lancaster is a place where they belong.

For SDoL, that commitment is not limited to one ceremony or one month. It's part of the work we are called to do every day.

This Pride Month, we celebrate our LGBTQIA+ community and reaffirm our commitment to making sure every student knows they deserve to feel safe, supported, respected, and valued in school.

Happy Pride Month from the School District of Lancaster!

School may be out and summer may be here, but we’re not done celebrating the McCaskey High School Class of 2026!

Last Wednesday, our graduates crossed the stage and became part of a proud legacy of Red Tornado alumni.

We’ll be sharing photos from commencement throughout the week as we continue celebrating the Class of 2026.

Congratulations, graduates! Once a Tornado, always a Tornado.
