Garrard County Public Library Donation Policy
he Garrard County Public Library accepts gifts of new or gently-used books, magazines, DVDs, and music or books on CD.

The library offers a wide variety of services - books and movies to check out, free downloadable materials, fax, copy, scanning and notary service, genealogy and local history information and programs for all ages! Decisions on whether and how donated items will be added to the Library's collections are based on the same evaluative criteria that are applied to purchased materials. The Library acce

pts the following materials in good condition:

Adult and children's non-fiction books published within the last 5 years
Unabridged audiobooks on CD
Current adult fiction books
Current paperback books
New and classic children's fiction books
Music CDs
DVDs

Items that are not added to the collections become part of the Library's ongoing book sale, which generate monies for library programs and services. There are some items that we simply can't use. These include:

Weekly news magazines and newspapers
Reader's Digest Condensed Books
National Geographic magazines
VHS videos
Cassette tapes
Encyclopedias and textbooks

All donations can be dropped off at the Garrard County Public Library during open hours. Please call ahead to make arrangements for large donations. The Library does not assign a value to donated items, but can provide a receipt indicating that we have received the materials.

The Garrard County Public Library will be closed tomorrow, Friday, June 19th, in observance of Juneteenth.

We will return to our regular hours and reopen on Saturday, June 20th. We hope everyone has a safe and meaningful holiday, and we look forward to seeing you this weekend.

Remember, our digital collection is always open on Libby and Hoopla if you need a good book or audiobook while we are away.

Drop by the library program room TODAY, June 18th, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM for our Tween STEM: Fossils program. Ready for a Wild Wednesday? Animals are invading the library today at 1:00 PM. Animal Tales is bringing their incredible Fossils Alive program to town, and we have live animal ambassadors ready to show you exactly how prehistoric giants are still among us.

Looking for a fun, last-minute activity for this afternoon or evening? The library is hosting two Dino Painting Classes today, and we still have a few open spots available for both age groups.

Our first session is for teens and tweens in grades 3 through 12, running from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Our second session is just for adults, running from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM.

Registration is required so we can make sure everyone has painting supplies ready for them. To claim one of the remaining seats for either the teen/tween or adult session, please give us a call at 859-792-3424 to get signed up.

Good news, story time families! Even though our printed Summer Reading calendar says there is no Story Time this coming Wednesday, we are squeezing it back in! Join us this Wednesday at 10:00 AM for a fun Story Time before our big Animal Tales program begins.

Important Note for Animal Tales:
While Story Time is open to everyone, space is limited for the Animal Tales program! If you plan to stay for the animal adventure, you must register in advance. Give us a call at 859-792-3424 to save your spot! Come for the stories, stay for the animals! We can't wait to see you there!
