The Lancaster Police Department is proud to support the American Legion Post 96 PTSD Walk and Sponsor a Veteran Program.

Each day, many veterans and first responders face the lasting effects of trauma and stress. Events like this help raise awareness, promote healing, and provide support for those who have sacrificed so much in service to our communities and our nation.

We encourage residents, local businesses, and community organizations to consider sponsoring a veteran or attending the event to show their support. Together, we can help reduce the stigma surrounding PTSD and remind our veterans that they are not alone.

🚨 TRAFFIC ADVISORY – UNIFIED 5K ROAD RACE 🚨

The Unified 5K Road Race will take place on Saturday, June 27, with races beginning between 9:30 AM and 10:00 AM and expected to conclude by 11:30 AM.

Motorists should expect temporary traffic delays and intermittent road closures along the race route. Lancaster Police Officers will be stationed throughout the course to assist with traffic control and ensure participant safety.

Areas affected include:

• Main Street at Seven Bridge Road (Rt117)
Main Street at Creamery Rd
• Main Street at Neck Road
• Packard Street at Harvard Road
• Harvard Road at Neck Road

Please plan accordingly, seek alternate routes when possible, and use caution when traveling in the area.

Today, members of the Lancaster Fire and Police Departments conducted a focused training session for seasonal beach staff, reinforcing the Town’s commitment to public safety. This initiative is designed to prepare staff to serve as the first point of contact and initial responders in a wide range of emergency situations.

The training emphasized situational awareness, appropriate responses, and clear communication procedures. Participants were instructed on how to recognize potential hazards, determine when to call, and how to efficiently coordinate with emergency services. Understanding what actions to take, when to call for assistance, and what to anticipate during an incident will significantly enhance both response times and overall effectiveness.

By equipping beach personnel with this knowledge and practical guidance, the Town is proactively strengthening its safety infrastructure. This collaborative effort between public safety departments and frontline staff will help ensure a safer, more secure environment for all residents and visitors enjoying Lancaster’s recreational areas.

🚴‍♂️ E-Bike Safety Notice – Lancaster Police Department 🚴‍♀️

The Lancaster Police Department has observed a noticeable increase in e-bike use throughout our community. While e-bikes are a convenient and fun way to get around, their higher speeds and quiet operation can create safety risks for riders, pedestrians, and drivers alike.

Please keep the following in mind:
✔ Helmets are required for riders 16 and under
✔ E-bikes must follow all traffic laws (stop signs, signals, etc.)
✔ Riders must yield to pedestrians, especially on shared paths
✔ Some high-powered or modified e-bikes may not be legal

👨‍👩‍👧 Know what your child is riding: Many e-bikes exceed safe speeds and may not be appropriate for younger riders.

It’s official! The Lancaster Police Department, with the support of its Co-Response Clinician, is launching the Blue Envelope Program.

This voluntary program supports drivers with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including autism, during traffic stops. Each blue envelope holds essential documents—such as a driver’s license, registration, and insurance—along with a brief personal note outlining communication preferences or support needs.

By providing officers with this information upfront, the program helps reduce stress, improve communication, and enhance safety for both community members and law enforcement.
