βž• The Noetic Learning Math Contest (NLMC) is a semiannual problem-solving competition for elementary and middle school students. The contest is designed to develop students’ problem-solving skills and promote their interest in mathematics. Students are asked to solve 20 problems independently within 45 minutes.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ This spring, 9,658 fifth graders nationwide were a part of this contest. We had 28 participants from Winskill and we had some outstanding results (we were only 50 points away from being recognized as a team)!

πŸ… We had 10 Flying Arrows earn Honorable Mention honors, scoring in the upper 50 percent of fifth graders nationwide: Adelynn McLimans, Alaina Chambers, Ben Nelson, Brooks Buschor, Kalia Shaffer, Kayhill Landon, Leyton Mumm, Makenna Wickwire, Rocco Morrow and Morgan Fager.

πŸ† We had two Flying Arrows, Reid Vogelsberg and Otto Stiklestad, achieve the Honor Board! Reid and Otto scored in the top 10 percent in the nation.

πŸ₯‡ Otto was our Winskill team winner, scoring the highest overall. He missed only two questions on the entire test!

⭐ Mrs. Sperle, Winskill's fifth-grade math teacher, gave Otto special recognition after he returned the next morning to solve the two test questions that both had missed. Although she could not award him a perfect score because he exceeded the contest time limit, she wanted to acknowledge his determination and outstanding achievement in eventually solving both problems correctly.

πŸ’™ Mrs. Sperle is so proud of these students for taking a risk! The NLMC is not an easy test, and they had to take it the same week after finishing the Foward Exam. They were given a choice if they didn't want to participate, and almost all of her students decided to go for it!

πŸ™Œ Congratulations to all!
