Please welcome Povilas Laisevcevas to Schuyler County! Povilas is a foreign exchange student all the way from Lithuania .
He stopped by to introduce himself today and tell us a little about what he will be doing in America.
To help support his education, he will be selling educational systems like ACT prep, study guides and early learning materials door to door. He has a valid solicitation license, so it's a legitimate business he is a part of. The vehicle he is driving is a Black Jeep and has Ohio license plates.

Attention Schuyler County Residents...We are taking increasing calls regarding gas and fuel thefts. Some of these thefts are from vehicles sitting in the persons driveway. Some are from tractors sitting in a field. Even newer vehicles are being affected. We want to catch these thieves! If you have cameras, please get them out and put them where they can't be easily seen from the roadway. We will be increasing patrols as much as possible along with some other things to try and catch them but still need your help. Please report any suspicious activity.

SCHUYLER COUNTY RESIDENTS:
We are being told that they believe the main sewer line at the courthouse has collapsed. Until that can be verified, we are being told not to use the toilets or water so the Courthouse will be closed until further notice. This means Macon County E911 will be handling our dispatch operations until the situation is resolved. Law enforcement will still be here for your needs.

Update:
We have been told at least some of the courthouse will be back open tomorrow so we will be back to dispatching. Inmates will remain housed out of county until they further assess the situation.

HELP WANTED ASAP!!!!!
The Schuyler County Sheriff's Office is looking to fill some weekend dispatcher shifts. The current part time shift available is 1am-9am every Saturday and Sunday. We are also looking for someone to fill in on an as needed basis to cover open shifts. Duties include answering phone calls, dispatching emergency responders and tending to residents of the jail. Other shifts and fill in shifts could become available. Must be at least 18 years of age, professional, have a good working knowledge of computers, be able to multitask, pass a pre-employment screening, have a high school diploma or GED, etc. Would prefer to have someone with 3 years of work experience along with experience typing and computer data entry. This is a very important position as you will be responsible for receiving emergency calls and will need to dispatch the appropriate agency in a timely manner. Starting salary is $15 per hour with the possibility of 2 more raises to $17 per hour within the first 6 months. Applications are available in person at the Schuyler County Sheriff's Office. Several citizens have reported receiving text messages claiming to be from USPS regarding a package delivery issue. The message asks you to click a link and “update” your address information.

These messages are fraudulent.

🚩 Red Flags:
• Sent from an international or random phone number
• Suspicious web links that are NOT official USPS websites
• Requests for personal or payment information
• Creates urgency to get you to click the link

✅ USPS will not ask you to update delivery information through suspicious text links.

If you receive one of these messages:
• Do NOT click the link
• Do NOT provide personal or banking information
• Report the message as spam
• Delete the text

If you are expecting a package, go directly to the official USPS website or app to check tracking information.
