As we celebrate 60 years of CAP, we’re also celebrating an important accomplishment in our history — launching Domestic Violence Services and helping build a community of care where survivors know they are not alone.

For five decades, DVS has evolved, grown, and continued to meet survivors where they are, providing resources, advocacy, education, and a path toward safety and healing.

From 1976 to today, the purpose remains as powerful as ever: To create a community where everyone can live free from violence and abuse.

Here’s to 50 years of DVS — and to the survivors, advocates, staff, volunteers, and community members who have shaped this incredible legacy. 💜

We’ve been collecting so many heartfelt memories as we celebrate 60 years of CAP.

Home Visitor Niki shares what it’s been like to do this work for the last nine years, sharing memories and some of the things she has learned along the way. We couldn’t do this work without our amazing staff!

The Education team recently had their annual Konnection Kickoff Day! 💚

During this time, the team reconnects for the new school year and spends time team-building and completing regulatory trainings. The team also had a training on how to access interpreter services so our team members can communicate clearly and more meaningfully with our families who speak a language other than English.

FUN FACT: There are 21 different languages spoken among our Thrive to Five families! The staff left feeling prepared and rejuvenated for the school year ahead.

As we celebrate 60 years of community action this year, we’re taking a walk down memory lane and talking to our staff, members, and volunteers about moments that stuck with them during their journey at CAP. ❤️

Meet Courtni, a member of our Development team and a former WIC and ELRC participant. She shares her journey with being on both sides of our mission. Watch the full episode on our YouTube now!

Some moments stay with you for a lifetime. ❤️

In 1985, during their first year with CAP, one staff member witnessed something that would shape their understanding of community for decades to come.

When a food distribution truck broke down on a hot summer day, families waiting in line didn’t wait for someone to tell them what to do. Neighbors stepped forward, formed an assembly line, helped unload the truck, organized the crowd, and made sure the food reached the people who needed it.

No prompting. No expectation. Just neighbors helping neighbors.

Four decades later, that moment remains a powerful reminder of what happens when a community comes together with a common purpose—and a lasting example of the spirit that has been at the heart of CAP for 60 years.

A little comfort can make a BIG difference. 💛

A huge thank you to Luminare Health for hand-making and donating these adorable Comfort Buddies for children staying in our domestic violence shelter and visiting our WIC clinic! 🧸✨

These special little friends are sure to bring extra comfort to the children we serve. We’re so grateful to the Luminare Health team for sharing their time, creativity, and care to make something so meaningful by hand. 💕

We can have a little fun with a trend. ✨ But the work behind these words? That’s real.

At CAP, showing up means creating access to resources, building strong starts for children, making fresh food more accessible, standing alongside survivors, opening pathways to opportunity, and so much more.

Because when you get involved with CAP, you’re not just liking a post or supporting an organization. You’re helping make a real difference in Lancaster County.

All the trends aside — community action matters. And it works when we do it together. ❤️
