Leaders from Community Action Partnership of Lancaster County and Crispus Attucks Community Center on Wednesday joined together with leaders from the NAACP Lancaster, PA Branch and The National Action Network to accept a proclamation from the Lancaster County Commissions recognizing today, June 19, 2025, as Juneteenth Freedom Day.
Juneteenth is a powerful turning point in our shared American history that celebrates freedom, endurance, resistance, and legacy, and as Crispus Attucks director Joshua Hunter mentioned in his comments, Juneteenth is as much about honoring the past as it is about working to shape the future. "The actions we take now will become the inheritance of future generations," he said.
Thank you to the Commissioners for their recognition of this important celebration, and to all the individuals and organizations in our community working to uplift the significance of our country's true Independence Day.
