No specific member of the week this week.

As we approach the halfway point of 2026, Witmer Fire would like to extend our sincere thanks to our members, community members, mutual aid partners, and donors for the incredible support we have received so far for the year.

Thanks to your continued support, 2026 is shaping up to be a record year for our association—not only in the number of calls we have responded to, but also in training hours completed, staffing hours provided, and our ability to deliver timely responses to those calling us on what is often one of the worst days of their lives.

Whether it's responding to emergencies, attending training, supporting fundraising efforts, making donations, or simply encouraging our volunteers, your support plays a vital role in helping us fulfill our mission. The dedication of our members, the partnerships we share with neighboring departments, and the generosity of our community make it possible for us to continue providing emergency services.

We are proud of what has been accomplished so far this year and look forward to continuing to serve throughout the remainder of 2026. Thank you for your trust, encouragement, and unwavering support.

🔥 MEMBER OF THE WEEK – Eli Zook 🔥
Each week, from now until the end of the year, we will recognize one of our members for their contributions to Witmer Fire. Our members are what make this association so great, and we are proud to highlight the people who help make it all happen in view and behind the scenes. Our eleventh recognition goes to Eli.

WFPA welcomed Eli in February of this year, and since then, he has played a key role in improving response times by being able to leave work and assist with getting apparatus out the door for fire calls.

Eli is passionate about helping people and is currently working to complete his Engine Company book. When staffing allows, he also assists by responding on the next-due apparatus and helps supplement first-out crews during staffing days. Additionally, when he is at home, Eli rides with his home department - Brunnerville Fire Company.

As a 100% volunteer organization, we rely heavily on staffing crews and individuals who are able to leave their place of employment to respond and serve the community 24/7/365 when emergencies arise. Members like Eli help ensure our apparatus gets on the road quickly and our community receives the emergency services it depends on.

Today, Witmer Fire proudly joins our community in honoring and remembering the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Memorial Day is more than a holiday — it is a time to reflect on the courage, dedication, and selflessness of those who gave everything in service to our nation and the freedoms we enjoy every day.

As we gather with family and friends, we encourage everyone to take a moment to remember our fallen heroes and the families who continue to carry their legacy forward.

From all of us at Witmer Fire, we thank and honor those who served and sacrificed.

**CV FIREFIGHTER INTERNSHIP COMPLETE**

Over the past several weeks, our Conestoga Valley firefighter internship students have successfully completed their internship program, gaining valuable hands-on experience alongside active firefighters and officers.

Throughout the internship, the two high school students worked through foundational firefighting skills, equipment familiarization, station operations, and basic emergency scene knowledge. They participated in training evolutions focused on safety, tools, apparatus operations, PPE usage, and fireground fundamentals while learning what it takes to serve their community.

Programs like this continue to help build the next generation of firefighters by providing students with real-world exposure to the fire service and opportunities to grow both personally and professionally.

We congratulate both interns on completing the program and wish them continued success moving forward in the fire service and beyond.

🚨🚨MULTIPLE PATIENTS EXTRICATED ON HORSESHOE ROAD🚨🚨

This afternoon, Witmer Volunteers were alerted for a vehicle accident reported with multiple patients. Squad 62 responded on dispatch and arrived to find a two-vehicle crash with one passenger vehicle containing multiple trapped occupants. The Squad crew immediately went to work deploying cribbing to stabilize the vehicle while utilizing hydraulic Holmatro rescue tools to begin extrication operations. Squad 63 arrived and completed de-powering and patient care.

Pictured is Probationary Firefighter C. Halton being directed by Assistant Chief J. Keys on what specific areas to work on to remove the driver side door. From arrival on scene to all four patients being extricated, total extrication time was approximately 10 minutes.

With rising call volume throughout the township and surrounding areas mostly during daytime hours, Witmer Fire continues to strive to staff at least one apparatus weekdays from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM with a minimum crew of three members- followed by support of our come from home and come from work responders. We all work as a team to get the job done. Today’s incident serves as another example of how consistent staffing helps provide rapid, effective service to the community when every minute matters.

Witmer Fire proudly serves alongside three other fire stations in East Lampeter Township. Our first-due coverage area spans approximately 10 square miles and includes farmland, residential neighborhoods, storefronts, and large commercial buildings—and it continues to grow.

To continue providing emergency services to our residents and assist our mutual aid partners the best we can, we are seeking applicants for the following positions:

Firefighters & Driver-Operators
Includes individuals interested in:
• Come-from-home response
• Daytime staffing
• Nightside staffing

Those staffing must meet minimum requirements in their orientation book to ride and must complete tasks during their duty time. This includes but is not limited to: training/cleaning/maintenance/public relations events.

Staffing in station allows the first apparatus to respond quickly to an emergency then be supplemented by come from home responders. Updated facility areas allow our responders to comfortably spend their time at the station for periods of time.

🔥 MEMBER OF THE WEEK – Susan Stauffer 🔥

Each week, from now until the end of the year, we will recognize one of our members for their contributions to Witmer Fire. Our members are what make this association so great, and we are proud to highlight the people who help make it all happen in view and behind the scenes. Our tenth recognition goes to Susan.

Witmer Fire Protective Association welcomed Susan in February 2021, and since then she has played an important role in helping the department grow and stay organized. Her efforts have included assisting with recruitment of new members, organizing personnel files, and capturing photos of our team during events and emergency calls. Susan also volunteers with Middle Creek Search and Rescue.

Her dedication behind the scenes has helped strengthen the organization and preserve many of the moments that showcase the service and commitment of our members.
