Thank you to all the CRA members who made our most active semester in CRA history possible! This semester, CRA members completed 11 Rent-A-Worker projects, raising $932 towards our service trip to Tulsa, Oklahoma, volunteered for Impact Missions, completed 4 projects at Milagro House, and volunteered for SoWe! Pictured above are some of our amazing CRA volunteers in their CRA T-shirts. To show our appreciation for their dedication to helping others, all active CRA participants receive a CRA T-shirt, designed by former CRA member Kathy Breczinski ‘22, during our biweekly “T-shirt Ceremony”!

Some highlights from CRA’s work at Milagro House this semester🏡❤️

Since 2014, CRA volunteers have completed countless projects at Milagro House, a local women’s and children’s educational program for mothers facing homelessness.

Thanks to the guidance of a loyal Milagro volunteer, Mike Joseph, since September, CRA members have helped out at Milagro by doing yard work using shears, pruners, loppers, and leaf blowers, moving AC units, painting, and completing other projects!

Only 3 spots remaining to join CRA in Tulsa, Oklahoma over winter break! From January 6-13th, CRA will be rebuilding a home in Oklahoma destroyed by flooding as well as exploring the city of Tulsa. Register on the Ampersand to join CRA and the Ware Institute on Saturday, September 30th to work with Impact Missions, a local nonprofit that helps low-income families with home rebuilding and home repairs and provides rehabbed homes for first time low-income home buyers!🏚➡️🏠 We will meet at 8:30 at the Harwood Commons patio and will return to campus by noon. This Saturday, we will be helping with organization and moving work at the impact mission store/donation center 🧰

To kick off the new semester, CRA members helped an F&M neighbor with their yard work!🌳🌿 This is a part of CRA’s Rent-A-Worker program, which provides members with fun learning experiences that help our neighbors with their home needs! All funds raised by Rent-A-Worker projects go towards CRA member’s plane tickets for this year’s trip to Tulsa, Oklahoma ✈️🏠, where we will be rebuilding a home that was destroyed in a flood.

Today, CRA members Niv and Athena learned how to use a bow saw, a chain saw, and an electric pole saw!🪚🪵

To get involved with CRA and learn more about our work addressing home needs in Lancaster and throughout the U.S., come to our meeting on Tuesday, September 19th at 7:00pm in the Brooks House Great Room!

EXCITING NEWS!

Catastrophic Relief Alliance (CRA) will be sponsoring this year’s ANNUAL POSTER SALE on Monday, September 4th (9:00am-5:00pm) and Tuesday, September 5th (9:00am-4:00pm) in front of the dining hall.

Sale proceeds support CRA’s mission of rebuilding homes and restoring lives in Lancaster, PA and across the United States! 🏠🛠

Formed after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the Catastrophic Relief Alliance (CRA) is a student-based organization Franklin & Marshall College which strives to provide support by rebuilding homes afflicted by natural disasters and housing distress.
