McDonald Green Fire Department joins the fire service in remembering Chief Dennis Cauthen of the Elgin Fire Department.

August 16, 2011 — Chief Cauthen answered his final call. His service, sacrifice, and dedication to the citizens of his community will never be forgotten.

Chief Dennis Cauthen, 54
Elgin Fire Department. Lancaster, SC
Chief Cauthen and the members of his fire department responded to a fire in a structure at approximately 0300hrs on August 16, 2011. Chief Cauthen drove an engine to the scene and operated the pump at the fire scene. While at the fire scene, Chief Cauthen complained of heartburn-like symptoms. While returning to quarters, firefighters stopped to get him something to drink in hopes of relieving his heartburn. When firefighters arrived back at the fire station, Chief Cauthen's condition worsened. He was transported to the hospital but later died. The cause of his death was a heart attack.

💦🚒 Wrapping Up VBS with Sherwood Baptist! 🚒💦

McDonald Green Fire Department had a blast helping Sherwood Baptist Church celebrate the last day of Vacation Bible School!

Nothing beats cooling off on a hot summer day with the fire engine, a giant water stream, and a slip-and-slide full of smiling kids. We’re thankful for the opportunity to be a part of such a fun event and help make some great memories.

A big thank you to Sherwood Baptist Church for inviting us to join the fun! We hope everyone had an amazing week at VBS and a safe, fun-filled summer! ☀️💙

🚒 June 18, 2007 – We Remember 🚒

Today, the members of McDonald Green Fire Department pause to remember the nine brave Charleston firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice while battling the Super Sofa Store fire in Charleston, South Carolina.

Their courage, dedication, and commitment to serving others will never be forgotten.

Station 12 responded to a working residential fire. Crews made a quick knock and worked hard to contain the fire and protect surrounding structures.

🔥The statewide burn ban has been lifted effective Friday, May 1 at 7:00 A.M.🔥

Thank you to everyone for doing your part and refraining from outdoor burning during the burn ban. Your cooperation helped protect our community, first responders, and natural resources during a time of elevated fire danger.

With the statewide burn ban being lifted May 1st, please continue to use caution with any outdoor burning, remain vigilant, and never leave a fire unattended. All burning within Lancaster County must still comply with the Lancaster County Burn Ordinance and all The South Carolina Forestry Commission regulations.

We appreciate your support and commitment to keeping Lancaster County safe

🚨 BURN BAN UPDATE🚨

The The South Carolina Forestry Commission has announced that the burn ban will be lifted for 12 Upstate counties beginning Wednesday morning. However, our area remains under the burn ban at this time.

🔥 ALL Outdoor burning is still prohibited here until further notice. This includes yard debris, brush piles, any open burning, etc.

We ask everyone to continue doing their part to help prevent wildfires and keep our community safe. We will share updates as soon as restrictions are lifted.

SCFC TO LIFT BURNING BAN FOR 12 UPSTATE COUNTIES WEDNESDAY

The South Carolina Forestry Commission will lift the State Forester's Burning Ban for 12 counties in the Piedmont region of the state, effective at 7 a.m., Wednesday, April 29.
The counties coming off the burning ban are Abbeville, Anderson, Cherokee, Chester, Greenville, Greenwood, Laurens, Oconee, Pickens, Spartanburg, Union and York (see map).

- Overgrown vegetation can hide the hydrant, making it difficult to locate, and delaying our response.
- W**d eating around the hydrant also helps prevent damage to the hydrant and our equipment.

Take a few minutes to trim around your fire hydrant and help us serve our community!🌱
