Be careful about watching too many videos of perfectly executed Pilates exercises. It doesn’t start out that way. I’ve been doing this for a long time and I still try and take correction gracefully. It’s a beautiful day in the Antelope Valley. The sun is shining, the breeze is blowing, and it’s not too hot, yet. I had a break between clients so I took the opportunity to work out a little bit. This “twisted swan“ variation used to be a favorite of mine. I always felt so strong and powerful and beautiful doing it. Today, not so much. I must admit it’s been a long time since I’ve done this exercise and I certainly haven’t had anybody watch me do it. But that’s what’s special about Pilates, I know I can go back to one of my amazing teachers and have them watch me and I know that their cues will help me get to where I want to go. None of us are doing it on our own. It helps to have someone guide us and cue us to be our best selves and move in our most efficient ways.

I have been working on meditation with the Headspace app for several years now. Today they did a live meditation and I took these breaths with over 600 people from all over the world. When things feel chaotic and loud, I am learning, that I can pause and take a breath. What do you do to quiet the noise?
