(This is NOT an official page of LVAC)

Lancaster Ambulance's Emergency Bike Unit is staffed by both members of our Career Staff & Volunteers. The Unit when formed in 2011 consisted of 4 Career Staff & 4 Volunteers. Today we have a roster of 15 members, both Career & Volunteer. We operate 4 Smith & Wesson Tactical Mountain Bikes, each equipped with NYS Part 800 approved medical equipment. We are a fully capable EMS unit, with AED capabilities in the event of a Cardiac Arrest in a delayed access area for a standard ambulance.

Our primary objective is to provide EMS "patrols" to the Lancaster Heritage Trail, the main public access bicycle/pedestrian trail within our ambulance district. This trail at 4 miles, begins in the Village of Lancaster, through the Town of Lancaster and ends at Town Line Road at the districts eastern border with the Town of Alden. Another primary objective is Como Lake Park, which is in the central portion of the ambulance district. This 80+ acre Erie County Park, includes varying terrain, a 4.5 acre man made lake, various hiking/cycling trails, numerous events, along with an increased population in summer months due to the popularity of family parties, cookouts. We do provide (free of charge) standby coverage for special events within the ambulance district. Our main events include Fourth of July in the Village of Lancaster, the 3 on 3 basketball tournament held in the Downtown Business District, the Taste of Lancaster, Depew's Night Out, etc;
