🧠 Mental Health Monday | National Say Something Nice Day

Summer is here, let's be NICE....
It sounds simple, but kindness has power.

A kind word can help someone feel seen. An encouraging message can change the direction of someone's day. A moment of inclusion can remind a young person that they belong.

As we recognize National Say Something Nice Day, we also acknowledge the very real impact that bullying, exclusion, and negative online interactions can have on mental health.

Today, we encourage our community to:
💛 Choose kindness
💛 Speak up when you see bullying
💛 Include someone who may feel left out
💛 Use your words to build others up

At Touchstone Foundation, our Mental Health Monday conversations remind us that creating a culture of kindness is also creating a culture of mental wellness.

You never know who might need to hear something positive today.

What is one nice thing you can say to someone today?

As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to a close, we hope one message remains clear:

You do not have to navigate life's challenges alone.

Whether you're experiencing stress, anxiety, grief, trauma, or simply feeling overwhelmed, reaching out for support is a sign of strength. Finding the right therapist can feel intimidating at first, so hopefully we can help highlighting different types of mental health professionals and the roles they play in supporting healing and well-being.

Mental health care is not one-size-fits-all. The right support exists—and it is okay to ask for help finding it.

If you or someone you know is in crisis:
📞 Call or text 988 for the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline
📱 Text HOME to 741741 to connect with the Crisis Text Line
📞 Contact Lancaster County Crisis Intervention at 717-394-2631 or toll-free at 1-888-448-5433

At Touchstone Foundation, we believe awareness is only the beginning. The conversation continues through connection, support, education, and access to care.
For Co-Pay or Deductible assistance for your therapy sessions covered by insurance if you are ages 0-25 or part of the family household of the patient in care we can assist with session costs up to $50. Learn more about Mental Health Access Assistance: https://touchstonefound.org/accessassistance/

This month may be ending, but mental wellness remains important every day of the year.

The need for youth mental health support continues to rise—and so does the need for licensed therapists serving children, teens, and families in Lancaster County.

At Touchstone Foundation, we believe strengthening the mental health workforce pipeline is essential to meeting that need. Through scholarships, clinical fellowships, mentorship, and student career pathway programs, we are helping invest in the next generation of mental health professionals who will care for our community for years to come.

At the same time, many insured families still face financial barriers that interrupt therapy and ongoing care.

That’s why our Mental Health Access Assistance Program helps eligible insured families receive financial support for copays and deductibles—helping youth maintain consistent therapy sessions without disruption. Learn More Here: https://touchstonefound.org/accessassistance/

Mental wellness support should not stop because care becomes unaffordable.

If you believe every young person deserves access to mental health support, we invite you to help fuel this work through a donation, partnership, or by sharing our mission with others. We welcome your contribution as you see fit here: https://touchstonefound.org/donate/

Together, we can continue building a stronger, more accessible future for youth mental health in Lancaster County.

Mental health care can feel overwhelming to navigate — but families should never have to do it alone. 💙

Our latest blog explores how changes to healthcare coverage may impact Pennsylvania families, what parents should know about accessing therapy and mental health support, and where to turn for help navigating Medicaid, Pennie, and behavioral health services.

At Touchstone Foundation, we believe every young person deserves access to mental wellness support, and every family deserves guidance, hope, and care along the way.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the servicemen and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

As communities gather with family and friends this weekend, Memorial Day also offers a moment for reflection, gratitude, and remembrance for the sacrifices carried not only by those who served, but by the families and loved ones who continue to carry their memory forward.

At Touchstone Foundation, we recognize the importance of connection, compassion, and supporting one another through grief, healing, and remembrance.

We honor those we have lost and extend gratitude to all who have served.

Today we recognize Schizophrenia and Psychosis 💚

While psychosis in children is rare, early warning signs can begin appearing during adolescence and puberty. Young people may experience confusion, withdrawal, or hearing and seeing things that feel frightening or difficult to explain.

Awareness, early support, and compassionate conversations matter. Recognizing signs early and creating safe spaces to talk can help youth and families feel less alone while navigating mental health challenges.

Hope exists through connection, compassionate care, early support, and communities willing to listen and learn together.
