Signs, signs, almost everywhere is signs.
You may have noticed some truck restriction signs installed on several Township roads this week. Over the last few months, we have been working with our traffic engineer to look at both existing and warranted truck/weight restrictions.
Several Township roads that previously had truck restrictions on them were removed. Those roads include Starr, Ellicott, Penn Green (between Baltimore Pike and Route 41), and Polo.
During the evaluation of roads, it was recommended and ultimately approved by the Board of Supervisors to implement additional restrictions on various roads. Signs have been installed along those roads to notify the traveling public of the changes.
Effective immediately, it is unlawful for anyone to operate a motor vehicle in the form of a truck with a trailer over 45 feet in length on:
Chambers Road between Hillendale Road to the railroad tracks
Hillendale Road between Newark Road to Scarlett Road
New Garden Road the entire length
Scarlett Road between Hillendale Road and South Street
Thompson Road between Baltimore Pike and Hillendale Road
Additionally, it is unlawful for anyone to operate a motor vehicle over 13 tons (26,000 lbs.) on:
New Garden Road between Route 41 & Bucktoe/Newark Roads
Scarlett Road between Hillendale Road and South Street
Thompson Road between Baltimore Pike and Hillendale Road
Local deliveries are exempt from the restrictions provided the delivery is on the exact road the truck is on. However the truck can not use another restricted road to get to a second road that is restricted to make a delivery.
