Oxford Police Services Transition Update:
Oxford Borough and Southern Chester County Regional Police Department (SCCRPD) are working together to prepare for Oxford’s transition to regional police services beginning January 1, 2027.
Following Borough Council’s August 17 approval of the resolution and Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), the transition process is now underway. The SCCRPD Public Safety Commission approved and signed the MOU at their meeting on September 10. A key first step, the SCCRPD application process for all current Oxford police officers who wish to continue serving the community as members of the regional department, has begun.
Important key facts and reminders:
-- Current police services remain unchanged through December 31, 2026.
-- Two officers are planned to patrol Oxford 24/7 beginning January 1.
-- An Oxford police substation and local supervisory presence will remain.
-- Community policing and enforcement of Borough ordinances will continue.
-- Current Oxford officers will have the opportunity to continue serving Oxford.
-- Oxford will gain access to additional specialized resources and services.
-- Oxford will have equal representation on SCCRPD’s Public Safety Commission.
The Town Hall with SCCRPD Chief Joe Greenwalt is currently being rescheduled. Information about the new date and time will be shared as soon as it is confirmed.
Residents can find information about this process, FAQs and other updates at www.oxfordboro.org/police
Additional updates will be shared as the transition moves forward.
Oxford Borough and SCCRPD look forward to working together to make this transition as smooth as possible.
