Today, the Lander Police Department had the pleasure of welcoming the students and staff from Lander Learning Express Preschool for a special visit. The kids had a great time exploring police vehicles, meeting officers, and learning a little about what law enforcement does to help keep our community safe.

We were also excited to have Lieutenant Zerga from the Fremont County Sheriff's Office - Wyoming join Officer Pieracini in on the fun and help make the visit even more memorable for the children.

Thank you to Lander Learning Express Preschool for stopping by and spending part of your day with us. We always enjoy opportunities to connect with the younger members of our community and help build positive relationships in a fun and welcoming environment.

After 26 years of dedicated service to our community, we would like to congratulate Chuck Carr on his retirement from the Lander Police Department.

Throughout his career, Chuck faithfully served in many roles within the department, including as a Peace Officer, always demonstrating professionalism, commitment, and a strong dedication to public service. His experience, leadership, and willingness to serve wherever needed have made a lasting impact on both this department and the community we protect.

Over the years, Chuck has built lasting relationships, mentored fellow employees, and contributed greatly to the mission of this department. While he will certainly be missed, we are excited for him as he begins this well-earned next chapter.

Please join us in thanking Chuck Carr for 26 years of service and wishing him a happy, healthy, and fulfilling retirement.

Congratulations and best wishes on your retirement!

Our own officer Pieracini getting the chance to speak with Senator Barrasso directly. We are thankful for these opportunities and appreciate that Senator Barrasso has always been a strong supporter of law-enforcement. We’re proud of Officer Pieracini representing LPD and the time he took to travel to Douglas for the Law Enforcement Memorial ceremony.

Today, on Peace Officers Memorial Day, we pause to honor the officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities and this nation.

We remember their courage, stand with the families they left behind, and reaffirm our commitment to carry on their legacy of service with integrity and compassion.

We invite our community to take a moment today to reflect, remember, and say thank you to those who have given their lives in the line of duty, and to those who continue to serve.

This week, Sunday, May 10, to Saturday, May 16, 2026, we join communities across Wyoming and the nation in recognizing National Police Week 2026.

We honor the officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, and we thank the men and women who continue to serve and protect our rural communities every day. From long highway patrols to helping neighbors in times of need, law enforcement in Wyoming is built on service, commitment, and community trust.

Please join us in remembering the fallen, supporting their families, and showing appreciation for all law enforcement officers during this special week.

To our deputies, officers, dispatchers, first responders, and their families — thank you for your dedication and sacrifice.
