As we head into the final weeks of summer, remember to stay fire safe!

Remember, fire restrictions are still in place. Please follow all current restrictions and help us prevent wildfires and keep our community safe.

With school starting back up, please also watch for kids in neighborhoods, near schools, and along the roads. Slow down, stay alert, and help keep our kids safe!

Thank you for doing your part to keep Lander and our surrounding communities safe!

The Lander Volunteer Fire Department assisted with the Weiser Knoll Fire on August 9, 2026. At this time, the department does not have any resources assigned to the fire.

For the most up-to-date information, please refer to WYDOT for current road conditions and closures, Fremont County Emergency Management Agency, or Watch Duty for additional fire information.

A Type 3 Incident Management Team has been ordered and will assist with fire operations and providing updated information as the incident progresses.

Please be aware that there is a new fire up Red Canyon called the Weiser Knoll Fire. Highway 28 is currently closed in the area of the fire. Please use caution and be alert for fire traffic and emergency vehicles in the area.
