A message of thanks we received yesterday from Johns Hopkins Hospital below. If you know who the crew is please contact BC Krichbaum.

"One of the Hopkins critical care trucks just popped a tire on I95 while transporting a seriously sick patient.
A PG County ambulance is currently assisting our providers as I write this e-mail in getting the patient transported up to the Hopkins ICU.
Many many thanks for the fine work and assistance of the PG County providers"

History is important, and it is important to revisit it every now and again. In July of 2001, Lt Dan's rules of EMS were published in EMS Magazine (now EMS World.)

It is important that all providers new and old revisit these rules of the now Captain Dan Hughes. Please take the time to share this with those that may not have Facebook.

eMEDS FAQs

Why is the report not locked or marked as completed when it is posted from Field Bridge?
The user has to select “Yes” to lock the call on Post and the user has to also select “Yes” to Mark call as complete on post. These settings are currently defaulted to no, because if you post and lock the report you will not be able to add times when you return to the station.

Why is Field Bridge asking if I want to over-write a report?
If you start a report in Field Bridge, and have to “X” it out for another call, what you have completed so far will Post to the StateBridge site. This is to prevent any “lost” reports as we experienced with trip tix. You can open the report again on Field Bridge, complete, and re-Post providing you did not lock or complete the report.

Note – If you do NOT mark a report as complete or lock the report they system will convert the status to complete and lock the report after 4 days.

It is in my narrative, why does it have to be in the drop downs?
Any and all procedures, skills, medications, vital signs, and assessment finding are required to be entered accurately and completely in the data fields. This allows the Department to accurately account for skills proficiency, budgeting of supplies, call severity, and many other data factors. It will also allow the user to utilize the narrative generator.

Do all refusals have to be electronic? (Must the suppression unit continue the BLS unit for a refusal completion)
All transport units that obtain a patient initiated refusal need to complete the electronic refusal forms. Suppression units that arrive on scene, have a patient encounter, and need to obtain a patient refusal will do so on a paper refusal form. The officer on the suppression unit is ultimately responsible for documenting the patient encounter, assessment, and refusal if obtained prior to the arrival of a transport unit.
