We serve to connect researchers, rehabilitation professionals, administrators, educators, and people with disabilities to the research and resources they need to be fully successful in their endeavors. The NIDILRR-funded Community Living Policy Center will host a webinar, Housing First: A Key to Avoiding Homelessness and Institutionalization, 6/11, 1p ET. https://loom.ly/ZDgdyC4 Presenters will discuss Housing First, an evidence-based approach that helps people with disabilities access affordable permanent housing and services individually tailored to a person's needs. Discussion will highlight the important role Housing First plays in advancing community living, enabling people to achieve the stability they need to focus on and address their needs holistically. Registration is free and required.

The NIDILRR-funded Temple University Rehabilitation Research and Training Center (RRTC) on Community Living and Participation of Individuals with Serious Mental Illness (TU Collaborative) released a new micro training, Opening the Digital Door! https://loom.ly/fCq9jO0 The training uses short videos and quizzes to explore how social media, when used with intention, may serve as a powerful entry point to community life. The training shares strategies that individuals may use to help themselves or someone else take the first step out the door.

The NIDILRR-funded project International Exploration of Rehabilitation Length of Stay Following Spinal Cord Injury published Focus Groups Highlight Gaps in Readiness to Return Home After Inpatient Rehabilitation for Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) https://loom.ly/I6UwZvc highlighting findings from a recent study of how newly injured people with SCI perceived their readiness to leave inpatient rehabilitation compared to their physicians. The article includes an interview with a participant who candidly shared his experience in rehabilitation and his concerns about leaving before he felt ready.
