The Volunteer Fire Department began its roots in 1884! In 1898 it was incorporated under state laws and is now known officially as the Lanesboro Volunteer Fire Department and Aid Association. er Fire Department consists of 22 active members! Each and every one of these members deserve praise and credit for their heroic efforts each and every day. The Fire Department covers the surrounding area and the cities and townships that they cover are as follows: the City of Lanesboro, the City of Whalan, Holt Township, Carrolton Township, Preble Township, Amherst Township, Norway Township, Pilot Mound Township and Arendahl Township. Crew Members: Jim Iverson, Ken Graner, Rob Wagner, Scott Strom, John Dollar, Tony Semmen, Anthony Schwartz, Mark Lawstuen, Matt Schnebly, Bryan Benson, CJ Peterson, TJ Stettler, Colin Bakke, Blaine Harmon, Cody Hungerholt , Matt Lawstuen, Jeff Norby, Chase Bakke, Adam Hazel, Jon Kettner, John Prinzing, and CD Hanson. What a night! 🎶🚒

On behalf of the Lanesboro Firemen’s Relief Association, thank you to everyone who came out and supported our annual “Street” Dance. Seeing our community come together for a night of great music, many laughs, and some sweet dance moves is what makes this event so special.

A huge thank you to Red Dirt Road for putting on an incredible show and keeping the crowd rocking all night long!

While the music may be over, Buffalo Bill Days is just getting started! Be sure to get out and enjoy everything the weekend has to offer as we celebrate this amazing community together.

And don’t forget—we’ll see you Sunday for the Buffalo Bill Days Parade and Touch-a-Truck! We can’t wait to see everyone there.

🌧️ RAIN OR SHINE — THE FIREMEN’S DANCE IS ON! 🚒🎶

We’re keeping an eye on the weather, but no matter what, the Firemen’s Dance will still take place!

We’ll make a final decision on Friday regarding whether the dance will remain downtown or move indoors to the Lanesboro Community Center.

Today we celebrate 250 years of American independence—a milestone that reminds us of the courage, sacrifice, and enduring spirit that built our nation.

As we gather with family, friends, parades, fireworks, and backyard barbecues, we hope you’ll also take a moment to remember those who have served and continue to serve our country and our communities.

From all of us at the Lanesboro Fire Department, thank you for allowing us the privilege of serving this incredible community.

🎉 Buffalo Bill Days is Almost Here! 🎉

It’s the weekend our community looks forward to all year, and we’re excited to once again host the Friday Night Dance during Buffalo Bill Days!

Join us Friday, July 31, as Red Dirt Road takes the stage in downtown Lanesboro for an evening of live music, dancing, and celebrating everything that makes our community special.

This has become one of the great traditions of Buffalo Bill Days, and we’re proud to continue bringing it to our community year after year.

This afternoon, the Lanesboro Fire Department hosted a Chicken-Que for our retired members and their families.

While this was the first year for this event, it was inspired by a tradition from years past and created with a simple goal in mind: to reconnect with the men and women who helped build our department and remind them that they will always be part of the Lanesboro Fire family.

It was wonderful to spend the afternoon sharing a meal, swapping stories, and catching up with those who dedicated so much of their time and service to our community.

The traditions, values, and sense of service that define our department today were built by those who came before us, and we are grateful for the opportunity to honor that legacy.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the day such a success. We hope this is a tradition that continues for many years to come.

Every Memorial Day, flags get raised, cemeteries fill with flowers, and “thank you for your service” gets said a thousand different ways.

But for some families… today is still a hard day.

Because Memorial Day is really about the people who never got the chance to come home, grow old, raise their kids, or sit around the table again.

As firefighters, we understand the idea of serving something bigger than yourself.
And today, we pause to honor the men and women who gave everything for this country and their communities.

Not for recognition.
Not for attention.
But because they believed others were worth sacrificing for.

That kind of courage should never become ordinary.

From the Lanesboro Fire Department, we remember the fallen and honor the families who continue carrying their legacy forward every day.

During EMS Week, the Lanesboro Fire Department would like to recognize and thank the dedicated men and women of the Lanesboro and Preston Ambulance services.

For many people, EMS is not just a career — it’s a commitment to serve their communities. Many of these providers are volunteers who leave their families, jobs, meals, and sleep behind at all hours of the day and night to answer calls for help. That level of sacrifice deserves appreciation and respect.

Whether responding to medical emergencies, serious accidents, lift assists, or difficult calls, our ambulance crews are there when people need them most. We are grateful for the teamwork, professionalism, and care they bring to every scene.

At the end of the day, we all share the same mission: protecting and serving our communities.

Thank you to the volunteers and staff of Lanesboro Ambulance and Preston Ambulance for the countless hours you dedicate to helping others. Your service does not go unnoticed.

Today is International Firefighters’ Day.

Since 1884, the Lanesboro Fire Department has answered the call.

Not for recognition.
Not for attention.
But because this community matters.

Training nights. Late calls. Long hours.
Real people, stepping up when it counts.

Over 140 years later… that commitment hasn’t changed.

We’re proud of the work being done.
We’re grateful for those who built this before us.
And we’re ready for whatever comes next.
