Cemetery/Grounds Foreman

The City of Lanett, Alabama has an opening for a Cemetery/Grounds Foreman. This is a Skilled Labor job with preferred qualifications of mechanical and environmental training and/or education.

Minimum Requirements:
Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving history. Must be willing to work extended shifts or be called back in emergency situations and work with exposure to difficult circumstances, including exposure to hazardous materials and all-weather conditions. Knowledge of maintenance and construction. Knowledge and Skill to operate a wide variety of City equipment.

Must have the ability to plan for grounds and landscape maintenance and determine equipment needs. Must be able to assign and oversee work of staff and develop work schedules of maintaining the City with a clean and neat appearance. Be able to use all equipment provided to perform duties and ability to train subordinates of the duties to keep the City’s streets and cemetery grass and all right of ways cut and presentable at all times.

Must possess ability to work in a standard office setting; strength and mobility to operate a motor vehicle; strength and stamina to lift 100 pounds; vision to drive and operate machinery and to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone and/or radio.

The City of Lanett is taking Applications for Laborers and Grass Cutters. Applications may be obtained at City Hall M-F 8:30 until 4:00 PM or on line at www.cityoflanett.com. Applicants must be able to perform manual labor that involves heavy physical labor. Must be willing to work overtime and be On Call if needed.
Must pass a Prior Employment Check, Pre-Employment Physical, Drug/Alcohol test and Background/MVR reports.
Driver’s License, High School Diploma or GED are required. When completing application have a copy of the above documents.
