UPDATE: ROUTE 60 IS NOW OPEN.

Route 60 (Pocahontas Trail) East & West is closed due to high water from Vincent's Funeral Home to Landing Road.

Detours are being set up to help motorist get to their destinations. Please find another route or if you live in the area be aware that it may take you longer to get to your destination.

IRONMAN 70.3 Triathlon is in town! The cycling event will impact Rt 60 on Sunday morning, I’m guessing mostly between 8-11am. Please remain alert!!

As a cold front moves into the area tomorrow, New Kent County is at risk for very severe weather tomorrow evening. Current models show a storm much worse than Monday evening with winds up to 70mph and the potential for tornadoes. The timing for the storms at this time appears to be 8pm-11pm on Friday night.

Now is the time to make sure you are ready for high winds, flash flooding, and the potential for tornadic activity. In particular, remove or secure anything from your property that can become a projectile in high winds (swing sets, trampolines, grills, lawn furniture, bird feeders, pots/planters, signs, etc).

Make sure you have a method to get alerts and warnings. In addition, springtime/summer weather is prime for storms that can knock out power. It’s always good to have flashlights, generators, and supply kits ready. Remember that as power goes out, stores and gas stations may be affected, so plan accordingly.
