A new CNN article highlights a heartbreaking reality: child drowning deaths have risen, and many of these tragedies are preventable.

That's why the South Whidbey Parks & Aquatics Foundation is committed to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to learn this lifesaving skill.

Through our Every Third Grader Learns to Swim initiative, every South Whidbey third grader will receive swim lessons to learn to swim or strengthen their existing skills. But our commitment doesn't stop there. Through our Access for All program, we'll also provide financial assistance so low-income families can enjoy the aquatic center and enroll their children in swim lessons—including toddlers and preschoolers, when learning water safety can make a lifelong difference.

The new aquatic center isn't just about recreation—it's about preventing drowning, improving health, and building a stronger, more connected community.

Come see us at the Bayview Farmers Market!

We'll be there once a month all summer, and we'd love to meet you and update you on the South Whidbey Aquatics Center and our fund raising efforts!

The farmers market is one of our favorite places to connect with neighbors, friends, and supporters who are helping make this incredible community project possible. Every conversation, every donation, and every show of support brings us one step closer to a healthier, more connected South Whidbey.

Whether you're picking up fresh produce, browsing local vendors, or simply enjoying a summer Saturday, stop by and say hello.

See you there on July 18!

For many local kids, the anticipation has already begun.

As a group of South Whidbey Elementary second graders walked to Community Park for their year-end field trip, the new aquatic center under construction quickly became the star of the show.

"Wow! Look at the pool!"
"I can't wait to swim there!"
"Did you hear that everyone can swim there?!"

Their excitement was contagious—and a powerful reminder of why this project matters.

Everyone deserves a place to swim, move, and connect with their neighbors — no matter what's in their wallet.
Our Access for All program was built on a simple belief: cost should never keep a South Whidbey resident from their own community facility.
Free and discounted passes. A straightforward, dignified application. No barriers, no shame.
Because health, wellness, and belonging aren't luxuries. They're for everyone. 💙
