Whidbey Art Trail

Whidbey Art Trail The Whidbey Art Trail is a year round tour of Whidbey Island visual artist's studios.

Working in partnership with the Whidbey Island Arts Council, the Whidbey Art Trail is a non-profit arts organization promoting the arts on scenic Whidbey Island in Puget This self-guided artist studio tour will lead you through some of the most scenic country side in the Puget Sound area. Located on Whidbey Island, the Whidbey Art Trail features a wide array of contemporary artists including paint

ers, weavers, print makers, potters, glassblowers, woodworkers and more. You'll find the artists working in unique and spectacular studios located in renovated barns or adaptively reused buildings in the small towns along the way. You'll have the opportunity to go "behind-the-scenes" to interact with the artists and gain insight into their creative process, as well as help support the artists' creative work through the direct purchase of original works of art.

“Embrace Whidbey and Camano Islands” author Hannah Corbin published a fun article about “Reflecting, Journaling, and Forest Bathing“. She sought out “5 iconic locations perfect for reflecting, journaling, and taking in the your surroundings as the New Year progresses”, and included us! If you are in a contemplative mood, or would like to be, then check it out for ideas.

“The experience feels exploratory rather than instructional. There’s no prescribed route, no pressure to interpret. Visitors move through the forest at their own rhythm, absorbing form, material, and motion as part of the natural setting. It’s a space that encourages creative thought simply by allowing art and nature to coexist without competition.”

Thank you, and Hannah!

Coming soon to Artworks Gallery- Kelly Liedtke signed on with a new publishing company and illustrated her first book, the subject is the North Cascades National Park. Kelly says, “it was a long and crazy journey full of learning curves and growing pains for everyone involved. But I have to say the 8 year old me is absolutely thrilled to see this happen and it checks a box on the list of someday somehow this is happening.
Proud to share this great project, nearly 200 artists working together for 1 mission. Getting people and families into nature and parks all over the world! “

Secret Seattle author Kelly Dougher began the new year with her article “This Island’s Free Sculpture Park Is The Perfect Day Trip From Seattle For Lovers Of Art And Nature“.

Kelly shared “If you haven’t heard of Price Sculpture Forest, it’s time to put it on your bucket list for 2026… the forest functions like an interactive outdoor museum, inviting guests to slow down, wander along winding paths, and experience art within a natural setting. Rather than viewing sculptures inside a gallery, visitors encounter them tucked among trees, along trails, and within the surrounding landscape, creating a sense of discovery at every turn.”

Thank you, , Kelly, and !

“Serendipity” – Acrylic on canvas, museum wrap - 40x30 – Favorite piece - $2200

“My friend Jennifer was driving in her car when she crested a hill and stopped at a stoplight. Looking up, she saw this amazing scene. She snapped a quick picture with her phone and later posted it on Facebook. When I saw it, I was enthralled with the brilliant blues and gemstone greens in the sunset sky streaked with golden shards. I developed this painting in my head for a year before I finally put brush to canvas!”

David Gignac’s steel sculptures are made of found, forged, and fabricated steel, which, the artist explains, character much like an aging person’s face develops a rich character through life experiences. His sculptures depict industrial and agricultural installations and factories which he juxtaposes with kitchen teapots, creating a whimsical twist and an almost nostalgic feeling.

Photographer Indi Rose of Poulsbo WA visually re-interpreted Jeff Tangen’s Playa Flowers through color filtration and perspective. Playa Flowers originally came from Burning Man, and now it becomes a part of visitor’s own personal environments within the Sculpture Forest.

Indi “enjoyed the contrast of materials used in the sculptures against the natural background. It was a very peaceful nature trail. I’d say my favorite part was hearing the kids in awe of the unexpected things they discovered around every bend.”

Thank you, Indi and Jeff!
