In October of 1933, the corps revised its Articles of Incorporation and adopted the corporate name used to this day- The Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale. With the change in name, the corps moved from being a paramilitary organization to one devoted exclusively to emergency medical care and rescue services of the residents of the North P

enn Region. Up to 1986, all staffing of ambulance and rescue calls came from Volunteers. However, as the region's population grew the annual volume of calls began to overtax available volunteers. The need for supplemental staffing by career Paramedics, Emergency Medical Technicians, and office staff. The career staff works in tandem with our dedicated volunteers to staff the ambulances and various specialized rescue vehicles that form the Corps' fleet.

Yesterday, VMSC joined our public safety partners and neighbors for Souderton Community Night and Perseverance Volunteer Fire Company’s 125th Anniversary celebration!

The evening brought together police, fire, EMS, and members of the community for live music, activities, and a great night celebrating 125 years of service. The turnout was incredible, and our crews had a great time meeting everyone who stopped by.

Congratulations to Perseverance Volunteer Fire Company on this major milestone, and thank you to everyone who helped make Community Night such a huge success!

🚨 Our upcoming Hybrid EMT Course is almost completely full, and only a few seats remain in this highly limited cohort!

The final students who register will join an intensive 15-week experience featuring hands-on skills, advanced simulation training, ride-alongs with VMSC crews, and preparation for the NREMT exam. This is more than a class. It is your opportunity to train with the VMSC Training Institute and begin your future in EMS. 🚑

Classes begin Tuesday, September 1, with both daytime and evening options available. Once these final seats are claimed, registration is officially closed.

Please join us in congratulating Melissa Kramer on her promotion to Lieutenant in VMSC’s Delaware County Division! 🎉🚑

Melissa became a paramedic on July 23, 2006, and this year marks an incredible 20 years in EMS. She spent most of her career at Crozer-Chester Medical Center, advancing from staff paramedic to lieutenant before joining VMSC following Crozer’s closure. During a difficult and uncertain time, Melissa brought her experience, leadership, and commitment to patient care to VMSC, quickly becoming an important part of our Delaware County Division.

Her journey into paramedicine was inspired by her son and her determination to provide him with a better life and greater opportunities. That same drive led Melissa to earn a bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a focus on drug and alcohol addiction, giving her an even deeper understanding of her patients and the challenges they may be facing.

Through two decades of service, Melissa has demonstrated compassion, resilience, and a dedication to both her patients and her crews. We are excited to see her step into this leadership role and continue making an impact across our Delaware County Division.

Summer may be winding down, but our station garden is still going strong! 🌱☀️ Paramedic Moriyah Cox took advantage of the beautiful weather to give everything some water and keep it growing as we soak up the final days of the season.

After another busy summer serving our communities, our crews are enjoying every last bit of sunshine around the station before fall arrives. Thank you to Moriyah for taking the time to care for our garden and helping keep it looking great all season long!

After 15 weeks of hard work and hands-on training at the VMSC Training Institute’s Philadelphia location, our EMT students officially completed their program and psychomotor exam today!

This milestone represents countless hours of learning, skill development, and preparation for the realities of working in EMS. Thank you to our instructors for their continued dedication and to each student for the effort they put in from day one.

Congratulations to our newest group of EMT graduates! We look forward to seeing where your careers in EMS take you.

More than 100 backpacks filled with school supplies went home with local students today, and the energy at Station 82 was incredible! 🎉

We had an awesome afternoon connecting with families, meeting members of the community and helping students get ready for the new school year.

A huge thank you to AT&T and our VMSC team members for donating backpacks and supplies, Mayor Stefan Roots and the City of Chester for stopping by and supporting us, and the City of Chester Bureau of Fire and Station 82 for opening their doors, hosting the event alongside us and joining in on the fun!

Due to the forecasted weather, we are moving our Community Lifesaver Day in Chester by ONE DAY to ensure everyone can safely come out and enjoy the event!
