A dedicated, professional workforce committed to providing the community with a safe, reliable, and economic water supply.

North Penn Water Authority is a municipally owned, non-profit Authority with a ten member volunteer Board of Directors. Board members are appointed to a five year term by their member municipalities. It is the responsibility of each member of the Board of Directors to represent their communities’ interest in the running and operation of NPWA. Board meetings are held once per month and are open to

the public. The most important duty of NPWA is to provide the public with a safe and reliable supply of drinking water. Our employees, many of whom are NPWA customers themselves, take pride in being able to provide this service to the community. What started out as a small water utility serving 7,000 customers in 7 municipalities has grown to one providing water to over 36,000 customers in 21 municipalities. There have been many changes over the decades, but one thing has remained the same. NPWA is committed to bringing our customers a safe, reliable, and economical water supply now and into the future. Staff brought their children and grandchildren to Bring the Kids to Work Day to enjoy a fun, behind the scenes look at what we do here at NPWA, with maybe a little bit more fun added: crafts, pinatas, water play, and plenty of snacks!

Some internships involve coffee runs or making copies, but this is not your average internship! NPWA is a partner in the Water and Wastewater Internship Program with five other local authorities.

From the boardroom to the water treatment plant, our interns get to work alongside industry professionals, gain practical experience, and explore diverse career opportunities in a critical and rewarding field.

All ten of our water tanks were recently inspected in accordance with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP) Safe Drinking Water regulations. Industry standards established by the American Water Works Association (AWWA) recommend comprehensive inspections every 3-5 years.

Tanks are regularly inspected to evaluate their structural integrity, protective coatings, security, and overall condition. These inspections help identify small maintenance needs before they become costly repairs and ensure the tank continues to protect the quality of your drinking water. Routine inspections also help maintain reliable water pressure and adequate storage for everyday use and emergency situations like firefighting.

Did you know some of our water tank inspections are performed using remotely operated vehicles (ROVs)? This type of inspection has become increasingly common throughout the water industry. These underwater robotic cameras allow certified inspectors to examine the inside of a water storage tank while it remains full and in service. ROV technology provides high-definition video of the tank's interior, allowing inspectors to evaluate the condition of the tank walls, floor, roof, and other components for signs of corrosion, sediment buildup, or damage - all without interrupting water service or wasting thousands of gallons of treated drinking water.
