We ❤️ our libraries!

Last week in Harrisburg, my colleagues and I gathered on the steps of the Capitol Rotunda with the Pennsylvania Library Association to celebrate our libraries, librarians and acknowledge the vital role they serve in our communities.

The story of my life includes librarians and libraries, specifically the Free Library of Philadelphia. Literacy opens up a breadth of opportunities in life, and my own experience ignited a lifelong love for reading that led me into the Air Force Academy, higher education, and onto my career path. It’s our duty to make sure that readers of all ages continue to have access to books and libraries so they, too, can find that spark.

Good things are coming to Lansdale parks! Senator Maria Collett and I recently celebrated three grants issued to Lansdalepa totaling more than $1.4 million! These funds will be used for park improvements at York and Susquehanna and Memorial Park. Plans include planting trees, increasing accessibility and purchasing new equipment, helping to create greener more welcoming spaces the entire community can enjoy.

Our local Cradle of Liberty Council Scout Troops are getting $50,000 in state funding to help bring their programs to more kids in our area! I joined them at their annual Cub-O-Ree to help them celebrate this new grant and show some new cub scouts the ropes.

Now, more kids will have the opportunity to get outdoors, learn new skills, and become future leaders. As an Eagle Scout, I recognize the impact scouting can have on young people, and I’m proud to help bring this opportunity to new people and new communities.

Reminder: our free shredding event with Senator Maria Collett is coming up on Saturday, October 31st, 10 AM to 12 PM (or until the trucks fill up), at Knapp Elementary School, 698 Knapp Rd. in Lansdale.

Three bags or boxes per person. No electronics, plastic bags, three-ring binders, cardboard, x-rays, CDs, or large binder clips.

Don't forget a few non-perishable food items for Manna on Main Street while you're there!
