Had such a great time yesterday at the Friends & Family Appreciation Day at the Lansdowne Fire Company! 🚒❤️

We are so lucky to have an amazing volunteer fire company and EMS team here in Lansdowne. And a huge thank you to the families who share their loved ones with us so they can be there when our community needs them. We appreciate you more than you know! ❤️

And now for the important news… 😂 Today is President Mike Boyce’s birthday! 🎉🎂

This past Council meeting, I had the honor of presenting the Sycamore Award to Alvin and Simone Phillips.

For a decade, the Phillips family has quietly been helping their neighbors and their community from their own home. They don’t do it for recognition — they just do what good neighbors do.

So I wasn’t surprised, but I was definitely touched, when I spent yesterday afternoon at a BBQ their neighbors put together to celebrate them. While I was there, I learned something I didn’t even know about Alvin: whenever it snowed, he would quietly get up and plow his neighbors’ driveways before anyone else was awake. Eventually, the neighbors figured out who was behind the mystery plowing and started collecting money to help cover the gas for his truck and plow.

Yesterday, those same neighbors presented Alvin and Simone with the funds they had collected. ❤️

That story says so much about Alvin, Simone, and the kind of community we have in Lansdowne. People looking out for each other — and then turning around and looking out for the person who has been looking out for them.

It also tells me I picked the perfect recipients for this year’s Sycamore Award.

Congratulations again to Alvin and Simone. You are very loved, and very deserving.
