Join us for a discussion on the rise of V**e Shops and To***co Retailer Ordinance Policy.
๐Ÿ“ Friday, June 5 at 10 AM at the Twentieth Century Club

V**e shops and to***co retailers are continuing to pop up across the country, with high number of locations near sensitive locations such as schools. This event will review maps of the retailer locations, discuss their impact on public health, and review policy options for responsible economic development and public health.

President Jessica Pointer and Mayor Magdalena Byrne recently attended the Pennsylvania Governorโ€™s Advisory Commission on Latino Affairs (GACLA) Meet & Greet in Upper Darby, where they had the opportunity to connect with Executive Director Olga Negrรณn, Commissioner Frances M. Gibbons, and Commissioner Jose A. Nuรฑez Ruiz and many other community leaders.

The Commission graciously welcomed Mayor Byrne, recognizing her historic role as Pennsylvaniaโ€™s first Latina mayor. Their enthusiasm for her leadership was inspiring, and we were equally inspired by the Commissionโ€™s commitment to advancing opportunities, advocacy, and resources for Latino communities throughout the Commonwealth.

The evening provided an opportunity to learn more about GACLAโ€™s priorities, build new relationships, and gather valuable tools and resources that can be shared with our residents. Lansdowne is proud to support efforts that promote inclusion, civic engagement, and stronger communities for all.

In honor of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Signing of the Declaration of Independence, students and community members are invited to reflect on the meaning of liberty, equality, civic responsibility, and the future of the United States.

Participants will explore how the ideals expressed in the American Revolution continue to shape American life today and how future generations can strengthen democracy for the next 250 years.

On Friday, May 29, 2026, beginning at approximately 6:45 AM, there will be a contractor working on the cross at the top of Saint Philomena Church, located at 35 E. Baltimore Ave. While this work is being completed, the westbound lane of E. Baltimore Ave. will be closed. Flagger Force personnel will be on location directing traffic, and only one lane of travel will be maintained through the area. The work will likely be completed by 12:30 PM; however, there is a possibility they may remain on location until approximately 3:00 PM.
