LFCo approves construction of Private Live-In Quarters.

Construction is expected to start this month on a new live-in bunk room which will contain five private sleeping accommodations as well as a common area dedicated to these members. This is in addition to the current station bunk room, medical staff quarters, gym, kitchen and TV room shared by all staff. The rooms will be dedicated to five qualified firefighters in exchange for a time commitment to remain in station to futher supplement the all volunteer membership. LFC President Mike Boyce advises we are very excited to move forward with the program. This will allow the LFC to reach outside the current membership and allow college students and other gainfully employed firefighters who may be in the area for a extended period, the opportunity to run in a very active station, gain new friendships and live in a secure home. Our close proximity to Philadelphia is a great fit for out of state firefighters looking for free housing while attending Center City Colleges. The train is just one block from the station and is a short 15 minute ride to down town. The application process will be announced in the next few months and notice will be placed here on our page.

Rescue 19 made the response earlier today to Darby Borough for the building fire...Engine 17’s crew (ATFD), who were covering Station 4, made short work of the fire running the pipe chase for the vent stack. LFCo. members assisted with searches and opening up. Crews began clearing the scene with the hour. Photo credit to Vincent Nicholas Michael. Earlier this morning the LFCo. Happily took delivery of our new 2020 Medix BLS Ambulance! Many thanks to VCI Ambulance, and Greg Amato! It was a pleasure working with you! The new rig should be in service in the coming weeks!
