"Independent 'counsel' couldn't be more important both for the Redistricting Commission's work and to foster the public's trust in the nascent redistricting process. Michigan voters who sought to establish an independent redistricting commission are watching this next hire carefully. The Commission has set a clear standard of rejecting candidates for staff positions that would undermine voters' trust in the process. Mr. Lancaster's apparent political allegiance would grossly undermine its objectivity and mission."
Late in the 10/1 meeting, a budget was discussed, but I don't see that in the packet for the meeting.
I'm a member of the Volunteer Advisory Council for Voters Not Politicians. I knocked on over a thousand doors to encourage voters to set up the Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission. I've watched the ICRC's webcasts with great interest.
I agree with Commissioner/Chair Steve Lett's comments about the ZOOM layout. It's very confusing the way the rectangles of participants keep bouncing around the screen. In particular, the ASL interpreters should have a permanent, fixed position on the screen. Deaf viewers must find it very confusing trying to keep up. In addition, SoS staff should contact ZOOM to see if there's a way to give commissioners permanent, fixed positions on the screen. Commissioners could be arranged on the ZOOM screen alphabetically by first or last name. (Viewers might even find it helpful to have the 4 Republican commissioners arranged together in a horizontal row, all 5 non-affiliated commissioners arranged together in a horizontal row, and so on.) Other participants -- SoS staff, Executive Director, expert consultants, legal counsel, public commenters, etc. -- should appear elsewhere on the screen, not mixed in with the commissioners. A fixed arrangement for all the little video rectangles would make things far less confusing for everyone—particularly for the commissioners themselves.
I think that the process is flawed and the random drawing needs to be redone with a corrected pool of applicants.

How could some of the 200 selected applicants for the Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission have answered No for:

• AVAILABLE_TIME_COMMITMENT
• ABLE_TO_SERVE
• ABLE_TO_TRAVEL
• OK_WITH_5YR_INELIGIBILITY
• IMPARTIAL

Those applicants should not have even been in the random draw pool. A redo is needed!

Krieger, Hammes, kooy, FALZON, and Harshberger need to be removed from the selected 200 and replaced with those meeting all of the qualifications.
Where are the results?
So, I got my email this afternoon that this Wednesday June 24, 2020 at 10 am they will begin to select Randomly through the computer system the final 200 to move into the next phase. Space is limited in person so they are making this live via online, so I am guessing there will be a link to view here on that morning. Good Luck Everyone!
It is a safety issue for the name/address of voters to be publicly listed. Will this be changed?
Perhaps you feel led to get involved. This may be one way to do it.
