State Representative John Roth

State Representative John Roth John Roth is the 104th District State Representative in the Michigan House of Representatives

Roth attended Northwestern Michigan College and received his associate’s degree in 1989. Following college, Roth’s campaign website states he began working in the Traverse City tourism industry. Roth served on the Grand Traverse County Parks & Recreation Board from 2014 to 2019 and served as board president for four of those years. Roth is an active member of the Grand Traverse County Republican Party. He currently lives in Traverse City with his wife and two daughters.

I was invited to attend a Kids Food Basket Dinner last week. They supply 11,000 bag meals a day to kids in need. They grow a lot of their own food at gardens in GR and Holland with a new one in Muskegon soon. 250 volunteers donate their time to support this fantastic program. Recently they have received national attention for their work. I have been a supporter in the DHHS budget that I chair.

I voted to get big money out of Michigan politics. Public utilities and major state contractors shouldn't be bankrolling political causes while doing business with the state. Putting this citizen-led effort into law is a win for transparency, accountability, and taxpayers.

Last night’s Northwest Michigan County Farm Bureau Annual Meeting hosted by County President Nate Wilson was a successful event. The updates by Farm Bureau’s State President Ben LaCross and District 9 Dan Vogler were welcomed. Northwest Education Services FFA instructor Brian Matchett was honored for his commitment to our future young farmers. Great to see several young people in room and some received scholarships to continue their education.
