🎉 WE DID IT! 🎉
As many are already aware --
History was made for respiratory care in Alaska.
After countless hours of advocacy, collaboration, testimony, and dedication from respiratory therapists and supporters across the state, respiratory licensure has officially become law in Alaska.
This milestone is more than legislation — it is recognition of the critical role respiratory therapists play in healthcare every day. It strengthens our profession, supports standards of care, and helps protect the patients and communities we serve.
We would also like to extend a special thank you and recognition to Representative Hall and Senator Bjorkman for sponsoring this legislation and serving as advocates for our profession throughout this process. Your leadership and support played an important role in making this achievement possible.
To every respiratory therapist, healthcare leader, advocate, legislator, and supporter who helped make this happen: thank you. Your voices, commitment, and persistence made a lasting difference.
As we celebrate this accomplishment, we also recognize that many respiratory therapists will have questions about what comes next. Over the coming months and throughout the next year, additional information and guidance regarding implementation, timelines, requirements, and next steps will continue to be shared.
Please continue following ASRC for updates as details become available. If you have questions or would like additional information, please feel free to reach out to ASRC through Facebook or by email @ [email protected]
Today we celebrate what we accomplished together.
Tomorrow, we continue building the future of respiratory care in Alaska.
